BOXING
The sport of boxing can teach a range of key skills such as teamwork, motivation,
structure, fitness, weight control, healthy lifestyle, routine, problem solving, discussion,
research, confidence, discipline, anger management skills and improving ones own
learning process.
During the health and fitness session the youngsters will be taught Olympic based, Non-

Contact boxing skills with the assistance of an experienced (CRB checked) level 2 ABA
boxing instructor/coach with rules that are set by the code of the ABA (English Amateur
Boxing Association.)
My name is Steven Connellan and I am head coach at Hamer Amateur Boxing Club.
Due to funding from the NHS, we are in a position offer six FREE one hour award
schemed boxing sessions for up to 30 pupils, plus at any one session. The sessions will
touch on a productive physical training programme which will involve circuit training,
shadow boxing, skipping, combination punches, defence, technique, footwork, question
and answer sessions and practical demonstrations in pad-work while learning basic
punching routines. The session will also encourage youngsters to live a healthy lifestyle
when we touch on the subject of diet and nutrition as well as covering the subject of
anger management, social cohesion and emotional issues which will help them gain the
ability to make a positive impact on their personal and social lives.
