Campaign Speech.
Campaign Speech.
Campaign Speech.
Akash-Year 12
Rationale:
This written task relates to my study of mass media and, in particular, to our
focus on the language and structure of political campaign speeches.
In addition, my written task is informed by my study of the language in speeches
such as Obamas, Mahatma Gandhis and Martin Luther Kings speech. In this
part of the course we considered the politics of nations, studying a range of
persuasive speeches and seeing the audience reactions to this. We also studied
about the use and effects of political slogans and how they are advertised to
make a greater impact and spread the word.
Accordingly, for this written task, I have written a political speech that is intended
to be presented as a campaign speech during the voting period of America. This
is a speech aimed basically to show a new inexperienced member of the
Democrats, Americas current ruling party.
My campaign speech covers the common aspects of politicians making promises
and showing the changes they would bring about in favor of the people, it also
uses persuasive and commanding words which is a major aspect of political
speeches. My speech also includes a political slogan which represents the time
period and the audience.
Written Task:
Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
If youre sitting here at town hall tonight, it means you want answers. Youre here
on your own time because you care about this country and you want to make
sure I care about it as much as you do. You want to make sure Ill bring real
solutions with me to office, not just bandages. Our country has come to a
crossroad, and now you have the power to change the political landscape of
America. As I have said time and time again, if you elect me to be your face in
congress, there are several things I will do to ensure that your needs are met day
in and day out across this land.
First of all, I plan on proposing new legislation that will invest more tax dollars in
our public schools, not only to meet the needs of today, but to encourage
developing minds for the future. Such new funding would be used to hire and
retain good teachers, build and renovate new schools, and give great tax breaks
to classroom teachers. To accomplish this, I am proposing no new taxes
increases, but rather a rechanneling of our existing tax revenue to meet these
demands. Now, the incumbent (the current elected political official in office) and
his staff have been talking about this for years with little progress. I plan to
change all of this now.
