ELASTOROOF P.U.
ONE COMPONENT
ELASTOMERIC MEMBRANE
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ELASTOROOF is a single component moisture
curing tar extended polyurethane liquid applied
elastomeric membrane for waterproofing and protection of a wide range of surfaces. The product
cures to a tough rubber like finish with exceptional
elasticity which allows for expansion and contraction over a wide range of temperatures.
ELASTOROOF provides complete, seamless,
waterproofing membrane free from joints replacing asphalt systems and self-adhesive asphalt
membranes.
ELASTOROOF has excellent bonding to substrate, thus, water cannot travel beneath the membrane even if accidentally punctured.
ELASTOROOF is simple to apply by brush, roller
or spraying application straight from the pail.
ELASTOROOF may be applied to horizontal
surfces without additional thinner. On vertical
surfaces it should be applied in multiple coats. A
non sag grade is available where coating of extensive vertical areas is required.
BASIC USES
ELASTOROOF is ideally suited for the waterproofing of two course concrete slab construction for
parking garages, decks, shopping malls and plaza
areas, bridge decks, elevated side walks and roadways or in single course construction for waterproofing tunnels, foundations, planters and base
slabs in terrazzo and quarry tile floor installation
and also as a waterproofing between the structural slab and concrete topping of roofing system
and under flashings. Long term of continuous water submersion does not affect ELASTOROOF
adhesion to the substrate. Under such conditions,
two part epoxy primer is to be used prior to applying the membrane.
LIMITATIONS
ELASTOROOF is not designed for and may not
perform under the following conditions or circumstances:
ELASTOROOF is not to be used as a finishing
traffic surface.
The membranes not to be exposed to UV rays or
to sunlight, direct or indirect due to the possibility
of a color change in the membrane which may be
objectionable.
ELASTOROOF can be covered with CEMTEC
ELASTUFF 103, a U.V. resistant P.U. waterproofing Top coat.
Certain curing compounds and chemical additives
in concrete can have an adverse effect on the

bond of ELASTOROOF . A field test should be

conducted under these conditions.
Do not apply ELASTOROOF over light weight
concrete without prior approval from CMCIs Technical Services Department.
Steel-pan decks must be vented with 1/4 boles
at 4 centres.
Do not apply on excessively hot decks.

INSTALLATION
Preparatory work:
All surfaces must be smooth, dry, firm and free of
voids, projections, lose materials, oil, grease curing compounds and other foreign matter. Concrete
decks should be cured a minimum of 7 days (Preferably 28 days) before applying membrane. High,
early strength and insulating concrete do not provide suitable substrates. ACI-301-1104(B), Floatfinished surfaces, should be considered as the
minimum finish for best results.
Application:
ELASTOROOF while designed primarily for horizontal applications with its self-levelling characteristics, may be applied to vertical surfaces with
a roller or suitable spray equipment. However, it
will be necessary to make several coats to buildup
the desired thickness. An application of 40 mils
thickness is recommended for horizontal surfaces.
Do not apply membrane unless the ambient temperature is at least 40oF and rising.
Catalyst:
Although ELASTOROOF attains a relatively fast
cure, a special catalyst, urethane accelerator, may
be added to reduce the curing time if humidity is
low or if early rainfall is anticipated. In the uncured state, light rainfall will not cause physical
or chemical damage to ELASTOROOF, however,
heavy rainfall may cause such physical damage
that the material will have to reapplied.
ELASTOROOF may develop blisters or bubbles
when applied to concrete having a relatively rough
finish or sand pits. This can be minimized by applying a prime coat of ELASTOROOF that has
been diluted with Toluene or Xylene in equal parts.
Allow the primer coat to cure before applying the
finish coat.

MAINTENANCE
If the membrane is damaged and the bond is intact, cut out damaged area and recoat. No primer
is required. If the bond is affected, remove the
membrane, clean and prepare in accordance with
the instructions under Installation.

Cleaning:
Tools and equipment may be cleaned using MEK,
Toluene or Xylene.
Storage Life:
ELASTOROOF is stable for a period of 6 months
after manufacture, when stored in the original unopened containers under a protective roof or cover
at temperatures not exceeding 80 Deg. F
Precautions:
ELASTOROOF contains diisocyantes and is
harmful if swallowed. Avoid prolonged breathing
of vapors and contact with skin and eyes. Wash
hands thoroughly before eating or smoking. Upon
accidental contact with eyes, flush with water and
seek medical attention at once. Wear protective
clothing and use soap and water to remove material from skin.
