NORWAY
NorskStein AS Important Order
for ThyssenKrupp Frdertechnik
The Jelsa quarry, situated on the coast between Stavanger and Bergen, is
Scandinavias largest quarry. Currently, roughly 5 Mt of material are produced
every year. By the end of 2009, the production will have doubled to 10 Mt per year.
For this purpose, TKF was awarded a contract for the supply of equipment worth
more than 30 million Euros. This contract, implemented by a team comprising
the Business Units of Ennigerloh and Rohrbach, is a particularly important step
for TKF because the Norwegian market is traditionally dominated by competitors.
Our scope of supply comprises an in-pit primary crushing plant for granite with
a capacity of 2600 t/h, in which we use a gyratory crusher type 63x75. Feeding
capacity and maintenance issues are just two of the technical features that made
the client choose the TKF crusher. The secondary crushing and screening plant,

Jelsa Quarry

at a capacity of 3000 t /h, produces offshore materials and

other additives for the tertiary crushing plant. The final products will be loaded by a shiploader designed for 3,000 t/h,
loading ships with a capacity of up to 30,000 t.
The tertiary crushing unit is still in the project phase. Most
likely, it will comprise a crushing unit for about 850 t /h,
a stockyard for about 600,000 t, including a stacker and
various conveyor belts. |

KOSOVO
500 Tons of Spare Parts
The EU and UN programmes supporting the
development of Kosovo have been running
now for several years. Nevertheless, energy
supply in the Kosovo, with its 2.1 million
inhabitants, is not yet guaranteed, despite the
fact that Kosovo has one of Europes largest
lignite reserves.
The technical condition of Kosovos energygenerating plants and equipment has deteriorated constantly over recent years, and this
includes the open-pit mining equipment. Daily
power cuts are only one of the consequences.
Over the last two years, BU Minings After Sales Service has intensified its sales
activities initiated nearly seven years ago. In the meantime, Kosovos authorities
fixed a budget to refurbish the equipment of its national energy supplier KEK.
One of the main tasks at hand is the refurbishment of two bucket-wheel excavators
supplied by Krupp in 1985, currently located in the mines of Barth and Mirash,
each weighing 2,000 t.
In October 2008, TKF was awarded a contract to overhaul these two machines,
including the delivery of mechanical spare parts and partially new electrical
equipment. The contract furthermore comprises supervision during the demounting as well as the erection phase. Both excavators are scheduled to go
out of operation in 2010/2011 and to go back into operation, after refurbishment,
in the Sibobvc mine.

Power plant Obelic

The contract comprises the supply of, i.a.:

Mechanical elements:
bucket-wheel drives, drives for the crawler units, drives for
conveyors, chain links, wheel bogies, conveyor belts, conveyor pulleys, couplings for the slewing gear, bearings,
metal detectors, teeth for the buckets, lubrication systems

Electrical elements:
devices for control, visualisation, intercom, air conditioning, standby generating

About 500 t of material/equipment will be supplied to the

customers storage in 2010. Erection will be undertaken by
KEK itself with support in planning and supervision by TKF.
The second excavator is supposed to be completed by end
of 2011, both machines then being ready to contribute to
the future supply of energy in Kosovo. |

Story of Success Continues
between Business Unit Materials Handling
and ILVA Steelwork in Taranto
New stacker/reclaimer at
ILVA Steelwork in Taranto

In November 2008, the third giant stacker/reclaimer supplied

by Business Unit Materials Handling for ILVAs Taranto steelwork was put into commercial operation. Unlike the first two
machines, which have been in use in the iron ore stockyard
since 2005, the new machine is handling coal and coke with
capacities of up to 6.500 t /h stacking and up to 1,600 t/h
reclaiming. With its boom length of 60 metres it ranks among
the biggest stacker/reclaimers installed in Europe.
So far, BU MH has replaced five stockyard machines
(3 stacker /reclaimers and 2 drum reclaimers) formerly
supplied by a local competitor. Moreover, in recent years
TKF has been awarded contracts to supply two wagon
tipplers for RIVA Groups German steelworks. |

Extension of Service Business
and Know-how at BU PR/KH Mineral
At ThyssenKrupp Frdertechniks workshops in Ennigerloh (BU PR), Germany,
and Sarreguemines (KH Mineral), France, a multitude of tasks are being carried
out. The extension of both units, which have been managed under a common
service concept for nearly a year now, has not only contributed to the fact that
delivery time requirements of new orders have been properly met, but it has
also enhanced an increase in service business in accordance with short- and
mid-term planning.

The orders vary from small assembly jobs regarding pumps to the assembly of
rotors and complete crushing units such as a 17 E Jaw Crusher. Recent orders have
involved the assembly of components for RollSizers (64 t), Roll Crushers (45 t),
Apron Feeders (56 t) and Rotors (64 t), to give just a few examples. Figure 4
shows the assembly of a 57-ton rotor for an Impact Crusher type 220/300 for
Hofuf, Saudi Arabia (2,200 t /h of limestone), which was finished at the workshop within five days. This kind of work demands various adjustments and often
complete test runs before the machine can be handed over for transport. For
example, the balancing of the rotors as well as the adjustment of the bearings
clearance are decisive factors in ensuring the machines optimum performance
and life expectancy.

A further focus lies on repair jobs, which may even include complete overhauls
of crushers. Due to close communication with technical colleagues when advising
clients in the sales phase, we succeeded in increasing the order volume as well
as the number of clients in the area of repair jobs. The scope of work runs from
demounting and repair to re-erection and commissioning.
Through our integrated service platform of BU PR/KH Mineral, service business
has been successfully increased. |

Another Four Fully Mobile Crushers
Major Order from China
BU Mining Essen are to build another four fully mobile crushers in China, jointly
with TKBT Beijing. The order includes the full design, engineering, delivery,
assembly and start-up of the plants. China Power Investment Group, one of the
country's five biggest state-owned utilities, intends to use the new crushers to
step up coal production at the Baiyinhua field in Inner Mongolia. The plants are
scheduled to start operation in 2010.
The systems to be used in the Baiyinhua coalfield will each comprise a fully mobile
crawler-mounted crusher, a crawler-mounted mobile transfer conveyor with two
conveyors, and a rail-mounted hopper car with cable reel car. Operating under
extreme climatic conditions temperatures fall to -40C in winter three of the
four systems will be used to remove overburden, each having a nominal capacity
of 6,000 t/h. One 3,000 t/h system will be used for coal mining.
Demand for fully mobile crushers is growing in large open-pit mining operations
around the world. BU Mining developed these plants for combined use with power

Model of the modified crusher design for Baiyinhua

shovels. The crusher moves on a single two-crawler track.

After crushing, the material is transported on conveyors,
eliminating the need for conventional haulage by hundreds
of mining trucks in this open-pit mine. This reduces operating
costs and significantly lessens the environmental impact.
Fully mobile crushers are powered exclusively by electricity.
In the present case annual carbon dioxide emissions can
be cut by up to 100,000 t. |

Coal Shiploader
for Cigading International
Bulk Terminal
In 2008, the construction of the coal export terminal for
Cigading International Bulk Terminal (CIBT) commenced at
Cigading, West Java. It is designed for an annual throughput
of 4.5 Mt of coal in the first stage and can be upgraded to
7.5 to 8 Mt in the future. In view of its favourable location in
West Java, this terminal will considerably increase Indonesias
coal export capacities to India and Southeast Asia.
An essential element of the coal terminal will be the shiploader
designed for loading sea-going vessels up to 80,000 DWT
at 2,000 t/h, and partial loading of vessels of 120,000 DWT.
At the end of 2008, Business Unit Materials Handling received an order for the design, manufacturing and supply
of the shiploader from the main contractor, PT Krakatau
Engineering Co. Ltd. (KE), Indonesia.

New belt wagon for ELEM at Brod Gneotino

In December 2005, Business Unit Mining received an order from ELEM (Elektrani
Na Makedonija) to deliver and assemble a new belt wagon for the coal mine Brod
Gneotino, the new mine of the Power Plant REK Bitola in Macedonia. Commissioning and performance tests were carried out in September 2008. The belt wagon
is part of the second haulage system.

The shiploader will be equipped with portal travel gears, a

boom with shuttle head and a loading device with trimming
spoon which allows for 360 slewing. With this option, the
ship holds may be filled right up to the edge, at a high
nominal loading rate. The design allows for an upgrade of
the handling capacity from 2,000 to 3,000 t /h to safeguard
the above-mentioned higher throughput of the entire coal
terminal at a later stage. |

Two completely independent liftable and slewable booms are the special features
of this machine. With belt widths of 1,800 mm, the length of the receiving boom
is 37 m, and that of the discharge boom 39 m. Its theoretical capacity for overburden is 5500 m/h.
As some equipment for the second system is provided by other companies, and
will not be delivered before the end of 2009, the belt wagon will be used until then
in the old open pit mine Suvodol.
A further extension of Brod Gneotino is currently planned, and a tender for a
complete third haulage system is expected very soon. |

most advanced hi-tech plants in the mining
industry. To consolidate their position, LKAB is
now investing in two gyratory crushers, based
on innovative technology from ThyssenKrupp.
The Jaw Type Gyratory Crushers, with a weight
of over 200 tons each, to date are only in operation at Northparkes Mines in New South Wales,
Australia. In connection with establishing a new
main level at 1,250 m at Malmberget, LKAB also
decided in favour of this new type of crusher.

"To break into the market you need a technically leading

supplier, and obviously we are proud and happy that LKAB
decided in our favour", says Gunnar Setterwall, the Swedish
sales agent for ThyssenKrupp Frdertechnik.
The extensive investment in the iron ore business will
increase LKABs annual capacity from 25 Mt to 30 Mt. At
the same time, the lifespan of the mines is increased by
ten years.
"A constant drive to be more efficient and invest in state-ofthe-art technology is neccessary to meet the lower-cost
competition on the world market", says Thomas Johansson,
LKAB's project manager. "The new crushers mean that we
can handle larger blocks of rock and reduce downtime."
The new crushers are based on new technology. The intake,
which is substantially larger and has other angles than a
traditional gyratory crusher, allows pre-crushing of the
material, similar to that of a jaw crusher, prior to the material
entering the gyratory crushing zone. |
