Warning: Unprecedented Drought in California

marketnotes

The action this week by California Governor, Jerry Brown, imposes

mandatory water restrictions of 25% reduction over 2013 levels
has the potential to seriously impact produce growers. We dont
know the full extent of the effects of this action, but our sources in
Central California are subject to serious cut-backs.

Produce Market Report April 7, 2015

GOOD BUYS FOR THE WEEK

Strawberries: Even
though we are in a
transition period from Florida to California, the prices
are still very good and the
sugar levels are some of
the best of the year. Firm,
beautiful berries, all from
California in their prime.
We have stem berries in
stock too.

Raspberries:
Conditions are optimal for
glorious quality on luscious
raspberries even though
prices are up slightly.

Cooler nights in Florida
have slowed the growth of
green beans.

Broccoli and crowns:

Continued tight market.

Cauliflower: Prices have

jumped back up.

Red and yellow

peppers: We only have
11 lb. packs from Mexico
now.
