Examination Instructions for the Candidates Appearing in All India Written Examination

for Engineering Disciplines of BARC Training Schools (OCES/DFGS-2009)

(This sheet is to be carried by the candidates to the examination venue on the day of written examination)

A.

General Instructions

1.

Examination will be conducted in one session for all the engineering disciplines as per the schedule given
below:
a. Date of Examination:
May 24, 2009 (Sunday)
b. Reporting time at examination venue:
09:30 Hours
c. Entry into Classroom/Verification of admit card/registration: 10:00 Hours to 10:45 Hours
d. Distribution of OMR Sheet:
10:45 Hours
e. Examination Duration:
11:00 hours to 13:00 Hours

2.

List of examination venues for each city is given as Table-1 of this instruction sheet. Please note down
your venue. Recheck the venue specific to your discipline.

3.

Please bring the following items to the written examination venue (i) Admit Card (ii) Proof of Identity (iii)
this examination instruction sheet (iv) Pen, HB Pencils, Eraser and Sharpener.

4.

You are not permitted to bring any electronic gadget/arithmetic aids such as mobile phones/
any communication/computing device, calculator, slide rule, log table, personal notes, books
etc to the examination venue.

5.

Report to examination venue at 10:00 Hours. Locate your room number through displays/ posters at
examination venue using your application number. Show admit card along with any of the prescribed
proof of identity before entering the examination venue. Go to your room and find out seat number from
the displays/posters located near each room. Sit quietly on allocated seat. If you are unable to identify
your seat, please contact examination supervisor of the venue.

6.

Display your admit card and proof of identity on the desk for checking by invigilator.

7.

Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet will be given to you by invigilator at 10:45 Hours. Fill in OMR sheet. The
OMR Sheet has two sides. Side-1 is for information about the candidate and Side 2 is for marking the
answers. Side-1 has two parts: Part-A and Part-B.

8.

Part-A is to be filled with pen. In item number-1, write your discipline. In item number-2 and 3, write
your surname and name respectively as appearing in admit card. If space provided in OMR sheet is not
adequate, suitably abbreviate your name. It is mandatory to put your signature in the space
provided in item number-4. Invigilator will sign in the space provided in item number-4 for
invigilators signature. Ensure invigilators signature on OMR sheet.

9.

Part-B is to be filled by HB pencil. Mark item number-5 (Venue Code) and item number-6 (two-digit City
Code) as provided in Table-1 of this sheet. Mark your five-digit application number in item
number-7 (Please recheck this entry). Mark your date of birth (two-digit month, two-digit date and
four-digit year) in item number-8. Mark Gender in item number-9. Mark six-digit question paper
number (printed at right corner of first page of question paper) in item number-10 as soon as you
receive the question paper (11:00 hours). The question paper booklet will be provided after completion of
filling of OMR sheet (except for item number-10) at the ring of commencement bell for the examination.

10. Side-2 - Part-C is to be filled by HB pencil for marking answers.

11. The answer Sheet will be scanned by an OMR machine. Do not, therefore, make any stray pencil or ink
marks on the sheet. Do not fold the sheet.
12. As soon as you receive the question paper, check for discipline, question paper booklet number, number
of pages and any obvious printing error. If case of defect in question paper, get it replaced immediately.
Mark question paper booklet number (item number-10) on OMR sheet.
13. The written examination question paper comprises of discipline specific hundred objective type questions
drawn from subjects normally covered during the respective qualifying course. Each of the objective type
questions will have 4 choices namely A, B, C and D (out of which only one is correct). Candidates should
darken only one bubble out of four provided. There will be 3 marks for correct answer, 1 negative
mark for wrong answer and 0 mark for question not attempted.
14. Submit your OMR Sheet and Question Paper Booklet to invigilator on completion of examination.
15. You will not be permitted to leave the room until the examination is over and both the OMR sheets and
Question Booklet are collected from all the candidates in a room.
