Nokia Site Wizard is a collection of software used to manage Ultra Site EDGE BTS
on-site.
The applications run under Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows
XP.
Nokia Site Wizard is an application package for the commissioning and maintenance
of Nokia Ultra Site and Metro Site GSM base stations.

The software is used for Nokia Ultra Site EDGE BTS commissioning, supervision,
maintenance, and testing.
Site Wizard also provides similar functionality for Nokia transmission products.

Summary

The BTS is manually commissioned using these Nokia software applications:

9 BTS HW Configurator - a tool for creating, checking, and updating the configuration
of a BTS cabinet.
9 BTS Hub Manager - a tool for configuring and testing the transmission of the BTS
and its Hub node (if there are FXC units in the configuration).
9 BTS Manager - a tool for configuring, commissioning, and managing the BTS and
related transmission equipment. The BTS Commissioning Wizard is included in the
BTS Manager (includes FC E1/T1 transmission unit configuration).

Installation

The installation program of Nokia Site Wizard installs the applications on

the PC hard disk and creates the Nokia Applications submenu in the Start |
Programs menu in Windows. You can launch the applications from this
menu.
The software loads either locally with Nokia BTS Manager or remotely
from the BSC or NMS (through the BSC). When downloading from the
BTS Manager, the service is interrupted.
Note

Only BTS HW Configurator, Ultra`Site BTS Hub Manager and BTS Manager
are directly used in the commissioning.
Only one application can be communicating with the BTS at a time. Close
BTS HW Configurator before starting Ultra Site BTS Hub Manager, and
close Hub Manager before starting BTS Manager.

BTS software
The Ultra Site BTS software supports EDGE functionality from CX3.3
onwards. Some software features are:
9 Auto-detection that automatically identifies the active BTS hardware.
9 Advanced BTS diagnostics system that considerably reduces the number of
alarms..
9 Storage for two SW applications in BTS memory: newest and old. The BTS
Manager shows the states, running package, newest in flash, and oldest in flash.
Newest in flash describes the newest BTS SW package. After SW
download, the newest SW package is taken into use during the next BTS
reset. In case the BTS is not connected to the BSC, it will reset, itself
automatically after the SW download is complete.
Running package describes the currently used BTS SW version (runtime
SW).

BTS Manager
BTS Manager is a tool for configuring, commissioning and managing Ultra Site EDGE
BTS and related transmission equipment.
After Ultra Site EDGE BTS is installed and commissioned, BTS Manager allows you
to monitor and control the BTS operation, either locally at the site or remotely from
the Network Management System (NMS/2000) or Net Act.
BTS Manager lets you perform the following BTS management tasks:

9 View and manage the BTS configuration in graphical format or as

logical objects
9 Monitor real-time status and alarm information, with continuous and
automatic updates during the BTS Manager session
9 Check, load or activate the BTS software locally
9 Reset, block or unblock BTS units, to replace or them for local tests
9 Read new TRX Abis allocations and send them to the BTS, when
adding TRXs or altering Abis settings for existing TRXs
