OBJECTIVES
After completing this session, you will be able to: Understand - Understand how workflows work with PlayBox solution and
how they can be integrate with current workflow.
Execute - Describe and perform automation broadcast on PlayBox solution
as well as manual intervention on the functionalities of the PlayBox
Software modules including on air-playback, graphics and text insertion,
playlist preparation and ingest.

OVERVIEW
While this session will focus on all aspect from ingesting, playlist
preparation to playback with CG and graphics, its main emphasis will be
helping to understand how PlayBox solution works and how can it be used
in accordance to user requirements and workflow. We would like to assure
you that you have chosen the most cost effective and versatile TV
automation system on the market. The following are PlayBox solutions with
different modules dedicated to separate applications of the TV workflow: INGEST
Metus Ingest is a multi channel, multi format encoding system that can be
used for Broadcasting, Media Monitoring, Medical Industry, Public Relations,
Security Applications, and for any other encoding/recording needs. With its
robustness and flexible structure, Metus Ingest offers almost
all kind of features that might be needed in a small or large facility. Metus
Ingest can respond to different kind of encoding requirements because of
its capability of working with different video cards. It can be used in all kind
of encoding automation applications by means of remote control, multichannel encoding, and scheduler functions.
AIRBOX
The most important part of a transmission automation system. It performs
on-air playback and control. The module is designed for uninterrupted 24
hours / 7 days-a-week content playout from online media storage. It can
also be used as a production server with interactive capabilities such as
Next, Jump, Cue, etc.
LISTBOX
A standalone playlist editor, designed for arranging, previewing and
trimming the available content without any hardware decoder
requirements. It contains useful playlist features such as text searching,
printing.
TITLEBOX
TitleBox provides fully automated or interactive graphics overlay. It can also
be synchronized to AirBox playout sequence. It allows insertion of text and
dynamic graphic information in accordance to external data sources. Text
information is received and rendered into high-quality graphics on-the-fly.

PREPARATION
Training should be a team effort. Organizer need to decide in advance who
will be responsible for handling each section of the session. Also they will
need to divide logistical responsibilities including taking attendance, and
recording trainee comments and questions. Comments and questions
should be recorded on paper for later review by the programme staff. The
trainee should have studied the basic functionalities on how to operate the
machines before the training session.

TRAINING CONTENT
The training comprises of 3 PARTS - Preparation, Solution Presentation
and Operation Hands-On.
PART 1 PREPARATION
Demonstrate PlayBox solution workflow and explain briefly each modules and its
functionality on the workflow.
PART 2 SOLUTION SIMULATION
Demonstration the solution step by step as the following:

Playlist Creation - LISTBOX


1. Add clips You can drag-and drop the file, right click on the playlist to add or
insert it.
2. Insert secondary events Right click on the playlist to insert secondary event
such as Logo event. Live Stream, dummy clip, complex event and etc.

3. Clip trimming Double on the video content in the playlist to active the clip
trimmer.

4. Save playlist as Daily Playlist After finish schedule the playlist, can save it as
daily playlist to able AirBox detect the format and run the playlist automatically.

VIDEO PLAYOUT - AIRBOX


Setup
1. General configuration You can check and select the option that you want to use
in AirBox.

2. Control of external devices AirBox can control most of the video router, can
send and receive GPI and DTMF.

3. Output configuration The setting page to allow you to change for Video output
setting, audio setting, Live Stream setting and etc.

4. Create/change preset logos AirBox can support 16 static logos, you can preset
the logo from 1 to 16. Click Load button to insert the logo. Location of the logo can
adjust by keyboard or mouse.

5. Logging configuration Log file will use for check for the video playback from
AirBox. By default the logo file save as C:\ProgramData\PlayBox\Logs\, you can
change the locatiuon by click the browse button.

6. Startup configuration AirBox can startup automatic after server reboot, You
can use Daily Playlist mode by just select the option and browse the folder which
save the daily playlist.

7. Auto-Fill Configuration This feature use to become the filler for the AirBox

which have missing file and also gap between clip and playlist. You can create the
Auto-Fill categories and insert the video content for filler purpose.

8. Fixed-Time event configuration You are allowed to set a Fix to for the clip to
playback. You can right click the clip and select Property, system will prompt out
the Properties of the clip. In Fixed-time Tab and enable the fix time features.

9. Set Auto-Fill to Missing files - AirBox will use the auto-fill category, as

specified in the missing files properties. In case there is no such category, the
default auto-fill clip will be played out.

On Air
1. Playlist creation on AirBox You can reschedule the playlist in AirBox for
emergency case.
Insert secondary events For emergency live event or others event.

2. Clip trimming In case over-run of schedule, you can use trimmer to


adjust some clips suration
3. Playback control In AirBox you can able to send commend such as
PLAY, STOP, PAUSE, NEXT, JUMP BACK, JUMP and CUE.
4. Manual load and append playlist - You can Manual load or Append
playlist in AirBox.
5. Automatic loading of Daily Playlist If you set Start-up using Daily
Playlist, AirBox will automatic read the Playlist structure and run the
playlist accordingly.

6. Usage and settings of ShotBox You can configure the ShotBox to send
command for AirBox to trigger CG, Logo or secondary event on fly.

Setup
1. General configuration General information use to view in TitleBox

2. Driver Setup Mapped Memory Driver v3.0 will be use in TitleBox to map
to AirBox playback content and output by using one SDI card (Decklink
BlackMagic Card).

3. Transparency of objects Objects are able to set background for


Transparent.
4. Transitions Objects are able to assign the transition such as [Cut (None)],
[Cross Fade], [Fly] and [Wipe]. They are not active for Analog clock objects.
5. Creates file link - Opens a list of all objects in the project and their links, if
any, to external files. Any changes in those files are applied in real time.
The file links apply to the text and picture objects only.

Advanced setup
1. Assign Task - It is available after right mouse clicking on an object in
TitleBox project and selecting Assign Task from menu. You can assign
object to play after some object is stop or others action.

2. Scheduler - The Schedule mode allows you to create schedules for


playing the objects in your project.
To add an object to the Schedule, press the Add to Schedule button from
the TitleBox Toolbar.

Date defines the Start and/or Stop date. By default, the Start day
is today. The Stop date is not mandatory.
Start by defines the starting trigger. It could be a specific time,
an event (for example GPI) or CMD.
Duration defines the duration of the object appearance through
Loop the number of loops. This field is active only for dynamic
objects.
Stop Time the stop time within the relevant day.
Duration duration within the relevant day.

PART 3 OPERATION HANDS ON
