THE YMCA IS
GIVING KIDS THEIR
BEST SUMMER EVER!
Do you remember trading stories and sharing a
favorite book or song with a new friend?
Do your memories include being greeted with smiles
and high-fives from staff and teammates after
scoring the winning point?
At camp, you always fit in, just for being you.
This is what the Ys day camp is all about, and we
are ensuring kids get more out of summer: more
friends, more exploration, and more achievement.
For parents and guardians who enjoy seeing their
childs face glow when retelling a camp story and
want to see their child discover new things, the Y
encourages you to enroll them in day camp!
The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis day camps offer a
mix of fun and educational activities aimed at
improving kids well-being. Our program focuses
on three areas proven to impact kids development:
friendship, accomplishment, and belonging.
YMCA MISSION: to put Christian principles into practice
through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all
2
the lives of youth. The Y is committed to working in collaboration with schools, churches, neighborhood organizations,
government agencies, and other human services groups to increase the availability and accessibility of the
Search Institutes 40 Developmental Assets for all children and teens in the community.
ACA Accreditation: YMCA camps are accredited by the American Camp Association.
This means they have met or exceeded the highest nationally recognized standards for
health, safety, staff training, and program quality. ACA accreditation demonstrates a
commitment to excellence, which makes your job of selecting the right camp much easier.
At the Y, we know that when kids are given an opportunity to accomplish new skills, make friends, and feel like
they belong, they are comfortable expressing individuality and feel more confident, connected, and supported.
We are focusing on these youth development areas to ensure that kids in our day camp program go home with
so much excitement for all theyve accomplished and enjoyed that they cant wait to come back the next day.

As a parent, you may have some concerns or wish to offer suggestions. Using the lines below, we may modify the above
plan with agreed upon suggestions. (Please attach more documentation if needed)
Our goal is to work together with the child and family to address and modify any behavior concerns; however, if a child
cannot display appropriate behavior, then he/she may be removed from the program. A child may receive up to three
written behavior reports. After a third written report is received, the child may be removed from the program until a
parent conference is held. The parent conference may include the parent/guardian, program director, site staff, and the
child. The child may be allowed to return to the program after the parent conference and the development of a behavior
improvement plan. If a child receives a fourth written warning, we may ask the family to make alternative child care
arrangements for the remainder of the summer. Please note that all behavior management plans are based on the
individual child and situation, and we reserve the right to adapt procedures accordingly.
Our top priority is to provide a safe and enriching experience for all children. To do this, we must work together to
develop the best plan for each individual child. In order to ensure this positive environment, we may not be able to serve
children who repeatedly display disruptive behavior. Disruptive behavior is defined as verbal or physical conduct which
requires constant attention from the staff including, but not limited to: hitting, kicking, spitting, attempting to leave the
program space, hostile verbal behavior, and other behaviors which may hurt another child or staff member.
