Standard Operating Procedures for Permitting Volleyball Courts Utilizing Recreation.Gov.
There are 11 volleyball courts located in West Potomac Park, along Parkway Drive. These courts are numbered 1 through 11 with the appropriate court number appearing on one of the net posts of each court. All courts must be reserved. There is a non-refundable fee of $30.00 for a (2-hour) use p e r i o d . The issued permit will list the court number, and the date and time (2 hours per permit) of the reservation. A SUP must be produced and displayed to "bump" and/or keep other players from that court. All activities, team practicing, warming-up, passing the ball, waiting for more players, playing etc., must take place within the times authorized by the permit. Permitted times are 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday. Any volleyball court not permitted during these times, on any of these days, can be used by a team and/or individual, on a Casual Use basis. Casual Use is pickup games that are noncompetitive and not organized or officiated. Teams and/or individuals using volleyball court(s) on a casual use basis can remain on the court until they are presented with a Challenge by another team and/or individual. Winning teams and/or individuals must accept all challenges and can remain on the court until losing. Casual Use can continue until such time as a Permittee arrives and presents a copy of his/her permit. Casual Use must stop immediately on the day and time and on the specified court(s) authorized by the permit. These courts are for public use. Any group, league and/or tournament, must have a permit to monopolize a court(s). The collection of entry/registration fee is prohibited on parkland. All participants must be pre-registered. The commercial promotion or advertising of any goods, products and/or services is strictly prohibited on parkland. The person named on the permit as in charge of the permitted activity on-site must have full authority to make any decisions about the activity and must remain on-site at all times. He/she shall be responsible for all individuals, groups, vendors, etc. involved with the permit This permit may not be transferred or assigned without the consent of the Superintendent, in writing.
