New to Salem Heights?

Welcome! We are glad youre here! We invite
you to seek out the folks wearing the Ask Me
badge. Through them you will find information
about the ministries of Salem Heights Church
and how to become involved. Please fill out a
Visitor Card and drop it in one of the offering
boxes as you leave or scan this code to go directly to our website
and fill out a visitor card. We have an excellent nursery and
programs for children newborn through high school. Any of the
ushers will be happy to direct you to the proper classroom. If
you feel more comfortable having your infant with you during
the service, the last row in the Auditorium will be reserved for
parents with small children. There is a private room for nursing
mothers across the hall from the Auditorium with a rocking chair,
changing table and portable crib. For your convenience, it also
includes a monitor to enable you to still hear and view the
service.

Lords Supper
Plan to come back this evening for our Lords Supper meal. We
look forward to sharing a special meal as a church family and
participating in the Lords table together. Service starts at 6:00 p.m.
Childcare is provided for those children age 3 and under.
Feed Salem
On April 25 we will once again participate in Feed Salem to
provide food boxes for families in need. Please fill out the bulletin
insert if you know a family in need. See the bulletin for more
information on donating a food box or if you know a family in need.
Marriage Conference
Registration for the Salem Heights Marriage Conference is now
available! Go to the church website or call the church office to
register. As part of our 2015 Summer Series, Salem Heights will be
hosting our first ever marriage conference. Join us for What Did
You Expect? with Paul Tripp on July 10th & 11th. See todays
bulletin insert for more information.
Girls Night In
Tomorrow night special speaker Laura Chica, fresh from her trip to
Haiti, shares with us truth from Gods Word that applies across the
continents and cultures, that Jesus + NOTHING = LIFE. Please
come and be refreshed and renewed as we worship and fellowship
together! You don't want to miss this night.
Cause Spring Hangout
Cause students, join us Friday, April 24 from 5pm to 11pm for our
Spring Hangout. Plan on good food, fellowship, fun and Truth from
Gods Word. Dinner and snacks will be provided. A suggested
donation for the evening is $10. We look forward to hanging with
you!
Cause Donations needed
During the upcoming Cause Spring Hangout, our middle school
girls will be participating in a craft time. Donations for that craft
time would be greatly appreciated. The following items are needed:
felt fabric, glue guns, elastic ribbon and buttons. If you feel led to
donate any of these items, they can be dropped off at the church
office throughout the week. If you have any questions, contact
Christa in the church office.
Sweet Moments For Moms
Ladies, mark your calendar for the upcoming Sweet Moments For
Moms event. May 1 at 9:30 a.m. we will join a special panel of
seasoned moms, enjoy a yummy brunch and participate in a spring
craft. Childcare is provided for this free event. Please go to the
church website and RSVP for the morning.

Giving Update
THE MINISTRY OF SALEM HEIGHTS CHURCH
The ministry of Salem Heights Church is funded entirely by the
generous giving of Gods people. You will notice that we do not
pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the
back of the auditorium. We have done this so no one gives out
of compulsion. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit
of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first
fruits. ...God loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:7) and we know
He blesses those who take His Word seriously in every regard.
Thank you for prayerfully supporting Salem Heights financially as
we desire to reach the lost and disciple the Saints.

Introduction
How did you arrive here this bright and sunny morning? Not,
what car did you come in, or how is your disposition, but what
trail of interactions has brought you to the course of today, April
19, 2015?
Go back as far as you can. Go back to Adam and Eve. The
presenting of you today in this place has taken an uncountable
number of interactions. True? Myriads of positive interactions
are on your time line, as well as myriads of negative ones and
others in between. Most of those interactions you had no
control of or even know about, so heres the point: You exist
today not by your own doing, but you are part of something
bigger, something immense. Interactions have been falling into
place, to bring us you. You are part of something that God
began with two human beings... and you matter.

As we think about our lives, we could say with great hurt in our
hearts, But there is such great darkness! Yes there is, all down
the time line and even today, but a great Light is shining. Hes
been shining from the beginning. He is shining through His Word
and through His people.
In our text today, as Matthew is called, we will see that a great
Light impacted his darkness. God showed up. That same Light
has shined down through the centuries, the Light is Christ Jesus.
He set Matthew on a new course; and whether we believe it or
not God knows, wanting to do the same with our lives. You see
we are a part of something ancient, old as time, but something
current, something amazing and headed towards a bright
future. You are seated this morning in the middle of something
special, a beautiful design, but its possible that you cant see it.
Its because you are one brush stroke in the midst of a
wonderful painting, one domino falling in the midst of a wide
and varied design. You are several pages in the midst of the
universal, celestial award winning novel. The author of that
novel is God, and you matter within His grand story.
Today as we will head out into the wonderful sunshine, may
each one of us grasp the truth that, in our fleeting moments on
earth, Jesus wants to save us and have us impact others
trapped in darkness, forever impacting Gods wonderful time
line of design. Your moments matter more than you may have
ever considered. Lets consider Matthew. He will prove it to us.

Matthews Darkness

Levi/Matthew was a tax collector.

That means he was hated

for good reason.

Levi was like a mobster.

afraid of him.

The whole region would have been

The Saviors Directive

Directive = Authoritative Instruction

Jesus looked at Matthew with intention.
Jesus said, Follow Me.
Matthews Deference

Deference = Respectful Submission

Matthew complied with no questions or complaints.

Leaving all,

he walked into new life.

Matthews obedience set in motion scores of people being saved

and the entire world changed.

The Converts Determination

Determination = A Fixed Purpose or Intention

Sinners came by invitation of the new Christian to meet his
Savior.

All of those invited were impacted, including the skeptics.

Religions Dissension

Dissension = Stern Disagreement or Quarreling

Disclosure = A Revealed Truth

Jesus came to save sinners, not stroke religions ego.
The moment the religious accept their sinfulness, Jesus wants
to heal them as well.
