EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Community & Fund Development Officer

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community & Fund Development Officer serves a key role in building
strong partnerships in the community and securing philanthropic support from individuals, government,
associations, foundations and corporations.
Primary Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and implement an annual development plan.
Serve as key lead for coordinating signature fundraising events (Homestyle Breakfast, casino), including
managing the process for securing sponsorship and recognition.
Monitor and track donor reporting and stewardship requirements, and follow-up funding proposals
submitted.
Support the Executive Director in writing grant applications, and in developing and presenting funding
proposals to a variety of audiences and prospective investors/partners.
Employ best practices for relations in all communications including acknowledgement letters and other
correspondence, newsletters, special mailings, telephone and in-person contact, recognition events.
Identify new fundraising strategies to broaden and diversify the Societys revenue streams.
Develop and maintain key relationships and be apprised of grant funding opportunities and deadlines.
Maintain constituent contact records and reports and ensure that all information is accurately and
expediently entered into CRM system.
Provide timely and accurate reports on fund development progress.

Candidate Qualifications/Assets:
This position requires a dynamic individual with a positive attitude, the ability to motivate others, exceptional
written and verbal communication skills, solid budgeting and financial management skills, and strong public
relations skills.
The successful candidate will possess a relevant post-secondary degree or diploma and 5 years related
experience. An acceptable equivalent in education and related experience with demonstrated skills in fund
development, event planning and volunteer development.

Sound knowledge of principles, proven methods, strategies of fundraising, donor relations and
communications.
CFRE designation desirable.
Minimum of 5 years fund development, relationship management, or sales experience.
Proven success with grant-writing and/or major gifts work.
Self-starter with a team-oriented approach.
Comfortable with common office software and experience with donor databases an asset.

This is a part-time, flexible opportunity of 21 hours per week at $25-$30/hour.
