timeline for this next year!

Goals for the Year

Announce the date of the Invitational next week


Expand the Invitational to 50 teams
Include a set of activates on Friday for teams that arrive early
Improve faculty involvement especially with regard to the award
ceremony
Open registration on September 1st
Improving the quality of our tests and event supervisors
Formalize the processes and structure of Science Olympiad at
Cornell
Improve the visibility of our tournament both on and off campus

Treasurer
Job Description: In charge of all finances, SAFC
stuff, and sponsorship finding.
Responsibilities:
Budgeting
Find Sponsorships
SAFC negotiations
Coordinating with other members to determine
financial needs
Fix financial problems

Ambassador
Job Description: Coordinates all external communication and plans
ceremonies/ side events
Responsibilities:
Representative for communication with all schools
Advertising on and off campus
Coordinate Registration
Opening/Closing Ceremony planning
Coordinate with faculty where necessary
Public Relations with schools
Create side events for students attending (Friday night events,
tours, panels etc)

Logistics Director (2x)


Job Description: Handles the logistical side of the invitational and makes
sure all things needed to have a successful day are taken care of
Responsibilities:
Create food options for students
Coordinate all hotel things with teams (discounts, suggestions, etc)
Comprehensive Transportation Plan for Teams
Acquiring and Assigning Team Rooms/organization rooms (eg home
base)
Manage the safety and insurance aspects of the tournament
Emergency Oversight
Cleanup/Trash Disposal Plan

Events Director (1 Test 1 Build)


Job Description: In charge of every aspect of events from start to
finish
Responsibilities:
Find and Assign Test Writers
Train Event Supervisors
Quality Control of Events
Acquiring and Assigning rooms to their respective events
Acquire materials for these events
Event Scheduling
Grading/Avogadro oversight (one of the two oversees this)

Volunteer Coordinator
Job Description: Manages and directs all help received from Cornell
students while assigning and delegating tasks to said persons.
Responsibilities:
Acquire volunteers from within Cornell to form core volunteer group
Acquire APO volunteers
Determine number of volunteers needed for competition
Assign volunteers to tasks
Coordinate with other Board Members to get them needed
volunteers
Advertise within Cornells campus to acquire these volunteers and
new members

Secretary
Job Description: Take minutes and keep track of
whats going on. Informs everyone else about this
information and maintains the website.
Responsibilities:
Take minutes at meetings
Keep track of what everyone is currently doing
Send weekly update with what everyones doing.
Manage timeline document and notify overdue
assignments.

General Board Member and Freshmen


Representative
One of each elected this fall. The board member will be immediately available and
the Freshmen Rep will be elected by the E-board and serve as the Annika of the
2015-2016 E-board
Job Description: Both will assist the E-board with its various tasks throughout the
year.
Responsibilities:
Assist Treasury with sponsorship acquisition (this will be their task until all
sponsors are contacted)
Help other board members who are behind or particularly full on work
More TBA in the fall

Task System
Description: For the time being we will be assigning tasks in the various areas described
previously. These should be assigned on a (mostly) weekly basis. The idea behind them is to get
everyone to work and get the prep work done so that we can announce our date ASAP. They
should also help keep everyone moving forward and reduce procrastination associated with vague
deadlines. Anyone is welcome to submit ideas for tasks as we will be discussing assigned tasks at
every meeting. Note that while board members are unelected prospective board members should
do tasks related to the position they want.
How it works:

Tasks assigned on a Friday meeting

Tasks completed over the course of the week

A report on each task is given( usually the following meeting)

Co presidents (eventually the secretary) will emails a weekly report on what tasks were
accomplished and what new tasks were assigned

going and know what you guys are up to.

system please let us know. We want to incorporate
everyones good ideas and are always willing to
listen
