Ingredients:
175g/4oz/1/2 cup butter or margarine, at room temperature 175g/4oz/1/2
cup castor sugar 1 egg yolk 175g/6oz/1 1/2 cups plain flour 5ml/1 tsp
bicarbonate of soda 2.5ml/1/2 tsp salt 50g/2oz/2/3 cup small crunchy nugget
cereal
For nutty biscuits, substitute an equal quantity of chopped walnuts or pecan nuts for the cereal.
Method
1. Cream the butter or margarine and sugat together until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg yolk
2. Sift over the flou, bicarbonate of soda and salt, then stir into the butter mixture. Add the oats
and cereal and stir to blend. Chill for at least 20 minutes.
3.Preheat the oven to 190 degree C/375 degree F/Gas 5. Grease a baking sheet.
4. Roll the mixture into balls. Place them on the baking sheet and flatten with the base of a
floured glass.
5. Bake until golden, about 10-12 minutes. The with a paletter knife, transfer to a wire rack to
cool. Store in an airtight container.

Method: Whip butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the milk mixture, followed by the flour and chocolate chips. Place in spoonfuls on a lightly oiled
sheet and Bake in a moderate oven at 180 degrees C for ten to twenty minutes or until golden in color. Cool slightly before removing from tray. Decorate
with melted chocolate.

Method :
Mix the flour and salt and sugar together. Cut in the
shortening and add enough ice water to make a stiff dough.
Beat your dough with a mallet until it is smooth, folding
frequently. Takes about 20 mins then roll out the dough, cut
with a small cookie cutter or tin can rim. Bake these for 30 mins
in a 375 degree oven. If desired dust these with some powdered
sugar.

Method :
Sift flour, salt, bicarbonate of soda, cream of tartar
together.
Rub in butter until mixture looks like bread crumbs.
Dissolve sugar in milk, stir into flour/butter mixture.
Form into stiff dough.
Roll out to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
Cut in squares; prick all over.
Bake in oven at 350 F (180 C) for 20 minutes.
Makes about 10 biscuits.
NOTES : A popular biscuit, as the Scots call cookies, to go
with a cup of tea.

To beat butter, or butter and sugar to a light consistency about twice its original
volume.
This is the portion of milk that rises to the top when milk has not been
homogenized.

Method :
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.
Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.

Method :
In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients together until well
combined.
Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse
crumbs.
Using fork, stir in water until mixture is just moistened.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Turn dough onto wellfloured surface.
Lightly flour your hands and knead dough 8 to 10 times
until smooth.
Pat out dough about 3/4-inch thick, cut into 1 1/2-inch
squares or cut with biscuit cutter, do not twist biscuit cutter.
Place about 1/2-inch apart on baking sheet and bake 20 to 25
minutes or until golden.
Makes about 5 dozen.
To freeze, prepare but do not bake. Freeze then place in
plastic bags. Remove squares as needed and bake frozen for 30
to 35 minutes. Ingredients may be mixed, stored in container,
water added and baked as needed.

Method :
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut the
butter into small bits and stir them into the dry ingredients,
using your finger tips to make sure its well combined. (Note:I
used a pastry cutter.worked just as well as my fingers and lot
less messy.) Next,slowly add the milk to the mixture while
stirring continually. Once the milk has been added, knead the
dough for one minute until smooth. Roll the dough out to
quarter inch thickness.
Cut into squares and place on a dry cookie sheet. Place
the cookie sheet on the middle shelf. Bake for 12 minutes and
feel secure in knowing that you have passed on a small piece of
America's heritage on to your children.

Here's a recipe from the Embassy of Australia, makes 5
dozen. Melt butter and golden syrup in large pan over a low
heat. Add bicarbonate of soda mixed with boiling water.
Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, then pour melted
mixture into center and mix to a moist but firm consistency.
Drop slightly rounded teaspoonful of mixture on to cold
greased tray. Cook for about 15 minutes in a moderate oven.
Cool on a wire rack.

Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour
Method
1. Mix together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add sour cream and
mix to a soft dough. Add additional water if necessary.
2. With well floured hands shape dough into round biscuit shapes.
3.Bake at 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) for 12 -15 minutes.
Honey Cookies
3/4 cup oil,

Ingredients
80 gm flour
40 gm butter
1/4 tsp baking powder
50 gm powder sugar
40 gm desiccated coconut
2 1/2 tbsp water / milk
2-3 drops vanilla essence
Method
1. Sieve flour, soda and baking powder.
2. Cream the butter and sugar very well. Now add flour and desiccated coconut, vanilla essence
and make into a soft dough with milk/water.
3. Roll the dough into a square butter paper and chill it till hard. (Do not freeze).
4. Bake at 175 C till done.
