Bradford Conservation Commission Meeting

Members present - Tom Gray, Gary Tillotson, Nancy Jones, Sandy Price, Barbara Kulczyk,
Monique Priestley, Dick Bolander

Called to order by Nancy Jones, Chair, at 18:00.

Minutes of January 07, 2010 meeting were approved as written.

Election of Officers -
• The following Officers were elected to serve through March, 2011
◦ Chair Nancy Jones
◦ Vice-Chair Monique Priestley
◦ Treasurer Ed Wendell
◦ Secretary Richard Bolander

Energy Audit -
• Final plans and commitments were put in place for the January 23rd energy audit at the
BA, beginning at 1 PM and scheduled for completion at approximately 7 PM.

Action Items Update -

1. Inquiry about towns that received EECB grants rather than Bradford seems to indicate
that towns that had conducted energy audits got grants. Some of the larger towns got
both directing and grants.
2. Draft letter on VHCB was provided to the BCC
3. Letter on VHCB was distributed by Nancy to legislators and local print media
4. Letter on VHCB to be placed on Bradford-listserve Jan. 22
5. New canopies were priced by Barbara at Mitch's: 10x10 = $250, 10x20 = $325, Sides =
$30, Ends = $50, Divider partitions = $15. Nothing was available at Blood's
6. Colatina will permit use of area for film series for free
7. OESC will permit use of area for film series for free; must schedule and confirm dates
8. Open
9. Dick reported on diverse options and price ranges; will produce comparison matrix for
next meeeting.

Land Conservation -
• Burgess land is being appraised
• Thomas land appraisal getting under way.

Calendar Supper February 13th -

• Donations this year are more difficult to obtain. The collection point for items for the
auction is at Nikki Darrling's.
• The following commitments were made with respect to the dinner:
◦ Monique will ask The Local Buzz to donate for the auction (AI) .
◦ Sandy and Barbara will make lasagnas for the dinner (AI) .
◦ Monique will ask JM Landscaping for a donation for the auction (AI) .
◦ Sandy will ask Chippers for a donation for the auction (AI) .
◦ Barbara will make her “world-famous” cashew brittle (AI) .

Stewardship -
• Tom reported that despite the abundant snow on the ground, the size of the brush pile
dictates that we delay burning at least until afterr the Calendar Supper.

Development of 2010 Priorities List -

• Excerpts from minutes taken during 2009 were reviewed to identify possibilities
overlooked / undone that remain relevant. Process will continue at January 30th BCC
Retreat.
• Nancy to contact railroad about access to the Sweet property (AI) .
• Tom reported that despite the abundant snow on the ground, the size of the brush pile
dictates that we delay burning at least until after the Calendar Supper.

Other -
• Dick raised the need for BCC to take a visible role with respect to closure of the
recycling depot effective Feb. 6th. Dick will review available Select Board
documentation (AI) and invite Gerhard Postpischl, Bradford's representative to
CVSWMD, to our next BCC meeting (AI) . This may require rescheduling the next
meeting to Thursday, Feb. 4th.
• Monique to send Dick the BCC web site address for inclusion in minutes footer(AI) .
• Nancy showed the BCC card of thanks published in the JO.

Upcoming Events -
• TPL Presentation to Select Board on Jan. 28
• Annual Upper Valley Conservation Commission Meeting on Feb. 25.
