COCHIN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to various academic programmes of the University for the year
2015-16 as listed below. Admission to various courses are based on Common Admission Test (CAT)/Departmental Admission
Test (DAT)/Test for Lateral Entry (LET) and C-MAT(AICTE)/MAT(AIMA)/CAT(IIM) score for MBA. All applicants intending to
apply for the academic programmes listed under 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2, 4, and 5 are required to submit their applications through
On-line Registration whereas for programmes listed under 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.6 the application forms can be had from
the concerned Departments/Schools. Eligibility conditions and other particulars are given in the prospectus published in the
websites www.cusat.nic.in or www.cusat.ac.in. Candidates who have appeared/are appearing in full for their final qualifying
examinations are also eligible to apply; but in the case of candidates appearing for compartmental/improvement examinations
this provision is not applicable. Candidates are required to submit their qualifying degree certificate at the time of counseling/
interview/Group Discussion/admission, whichever is earlier. In the case of PG programmes such candidates awaiting their
final year/semester results shall be permitted to join provisionally on the basis of the CAT rank, at their own risk, subject to the
condition that they shall produce the qualifying degree certificate and mark lists before the date of registration for the regular
first semester examination failing which they shall not be permitted to continue the programme and shall be summarily removed
from the rolls of the University. Only UGC specified Degrees, Diplomas etc. awarded by the UGC approved statutory
Universities shall be accepted as qualifying examination for admission. Distance education Degrees/Diplomas recognized by
the UGC in conformity with UGC notification of specification of degrees, for education/employment purpose in the University
shall also be accepted. Courses equivalent to 12th standard/plus two or equivalent with the required combinations and
marks shall be the required qualification for undergraduate courses,
For First Degree Programmes (B.Tech. and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics), the CAT will be conducted on AllIndia basis with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi,
Varanasi, Kota, Dubai, Thiruvananathapuram, Kollam, Adoor (Pathanamthitta), Thodupuzha (Idukki), Alappuzha, Kottayam,
Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kalpatta (Wayanad) and Kasaragod.
For all other programmes except 3 year LLB/Lateral entry programme, the test will be conducted at specified centres
within the state of Kerala.. For 3 year LLB and Lateral entry programme, the admission tests will be conducted at Ernakulam
center only.
The Departmental Admission Tests (DATs) are conducted in the University campus by the individual Departments/ Schools/
Centres of the University. The dates of these tests will be announced separately by the individual departments.
The University reserves the right to cancel/ shift/ merge all or any of the notified test centres/dates and to revise the rules and
regulations relating to programmes of study, eligibility, reservation, admission criteria, fee structure and other relevant matters
for administrative reasons. All disputes related to CAT shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts at Kochi only. Appearance
in the CAT or figuring in the Rank List does not ipso facto confer any right for admission to a particular course unless found
suitable as per the eligibility criteria as amended from time to time.
1. ADMISSIONS THROUGH CAT
Applicants for the following programmes are required to appear for CAT, except where specifically indicated otherwise.

Eligibility criteria:
For item A, B & C: Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted
as equivalent thereto with mathematics, physics and chemistry as optional subjects securing a minimum
of 50% marks in mathematics and 50% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together
For item D: Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent
thereto with mathematics, physics and chemistry as optional subjects securing a minimum of 60% marks
in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together, with at least 55% in mathematics separately.
For item E :
1. Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent
thereto with physics, chemistry, mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average
of not less than 60% marks & minimum 50% for mathematics alone. Should have obtained 50% marks
in English at 10th or 12th standards. This is applicable to the SC/ST candidates also.
2. Medical fitness Certificate obtained from Medical Examiners approved by DG Shipping is required
3. Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply.
4. The Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission.
5. Eligibility for admission is based on the directions from the DG Shipping (Govt. of India)
For item F :
Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto
with a First Class (60%) securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics as well as for mathematics,
physics and chemistry put together.
For item G:

Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science / Commerce group or 55% marks in Arts /
Humanities.
2. Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case
of SC / ST and OBC candidates.
For item H
1. Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce / Arts /
Humanities

(Students who have taken their 10+2 or degree through distance or correspondence method are eligible to apply
for B.B.A LL.B. and B.Com.LL.B (Hons.), whereas those who passed the course through Open University Scheme
without any basic qualifications are ineligible for admission to this course)

Note: 1.SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying examination except for
B.Tech. in Marine Engineering.
2. SEBC Candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in marks (Under Graduate Programmes) except for B.Tech. in
Marine Engineering.
1.2 POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES
Eligibility criteria:
3 year LLB
Pass in Bachelors degree with not less than 40% marks in the aggregate in any discipline of a University recognized by
CUSAT (35% for SC/ST candidates)
Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination may also apply, in anticipation of results. However, the mark
lists obtained in the qualifying examination shall be produced at the time of admission. Those who fail to produce mark lists
shall not be considered for admission.
LL.M.
Bachelors degree in Law with at least 45% marks.
M.A. Hindi Language and Literature
B.A./B.Sc. degree with Hindi as a subject of study with at least 45% marks in Hindi.
M.B.A. (Full-time )
Bachelors degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
M.B.A. (Part-time )

50% of the seats are reserved for candidates having 3 years of supervisory / executive experience

Bachelors degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
M.B.A.(International Business)
Bachelors degree in any discipline recognized by the University with 50% marks in aggregate.
M.A. Applied Economics
Bachelors degree in Economics with 55% marks in Part III (Economics and Subsidiaries) or 60% marks
with B.Com., BBA, BBM with Economics as one of the subject or B.Sc. Mathematics or Statistics with 65% marks.
M.C.A. (Regular and Cost Sharing)
Any graduate with mathematics as one of the main or subsidiary subjects or graduate in Electronics/
Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engg./Technology with aggregate 55% marks in all subjects
other than Languages and Humanities.
M.Sc. Chemistry
B.Sc. degree with Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/Environmental Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/
Petrochemicals (main), with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects with at least 55% marks in the
main subject.
M. Sc. Biotechnology
Bachelors degree in any branch of Life Sciences including Agricultural and Medical Science or Chemical Science
or Chemical Engg. with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

ADMISSIONS

M.Sc in Biopolymer Science


B.Sc degree with Chemistry as one of the main or subsidiary subjects. The candidate should have passed
the qualifying examination with a minimum of 50% marks in the main and subsidiary subjects taken together. The course is
conducted by CIPET (Centre for Bio-Polymer Science & Technology, Eloor, Kochi) in collaboration with CUSAT
M.Sc. Electronic Science (with specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Microwave, Electronics and
Computer Technology)
First class B.Sc. degree with not less than 60% aggregate marks in Electronics or Physics.
M. Sc. Environmental Technology
Stream I - Environmental Engineering.
Graduate in Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiaries or Graduate in Engg. (Civil/Public Health
/Environmental/Chemical) with 55% marks (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) in optional subjects in the
qualifying exam and a valid score in the CAT, conducted by the University.
Stream II - Environmental Bio-Technology
Graduate in Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/ Zoology/ Botany/ Microbiology with 55% marks (50% in the
case of SC/ST candidates) in optional subjects in the qualifying exam and a valid score in the CAT exam
conducted by the University.
M. Sc. Hydrochemistry
B.Sc. degree in Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiaries or B.Sc. degree of any University
in Kerala with Polymer Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Petrochemicals/Environment & Water Management as
the main subject and Mathematics and Physics/Computer Science, as subsidiaries with a minimum of 55%
marks in the respective main subject.
M. Sc. Industrial Fisheries
Bachelors degree in Zoology/Botany/Fisheries with at least 55% marks in the optional subjects. Bachelors
degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries/Aquaculture/Fishery Science/Industrial Fish and Fisheries/
BFSc. in Nautical science.
M.Sc. Instrumentation
B.Sc degree in Instrumentation / Physics / Electronics with 60% marks from any recognized University
M. Sc. Marine Biology
B.Sc. degree with any branch of Life Sciences such as Aquaculture, Bio-chemistry, Biotechnology, Botany,
Microbiology and Zoology as a main subject or B.Sc. degree in Fishery Science with at least 55% marks in
the optional subjects.
M. Sc. Marine Geology
B.Sc. degree in Geology /Physics/Chemistry with at least 60% aggregate marks.
M. Sc. Marine Geophysics
B.Sc. degree in Geology or Physics with Mathematics as one of the subjects and at least 60% aggregate marks
M. Sc. Mathematics
B.Sc. degree with Mathematics main, with at least 55% marks for optional subjects taken together.
M. Sc. Meteorology
B.Sc. degree with Physics/Mathematics as the main subject with 55% marks. Those with Mathematics as
the main subject should have studied Physics as one of the subsidiaries and vice-versa.
M. Sc. Oceanography
B.Sc. degree with Physics/Mathematics as the main subject with 55% marks. Those with Mathematics as
the main subject should have studied Physics as one of the subsidiaries and vice-versa.
M. Sc. Physics
B.Sc. degree with Physics main and Mathematics as subsidiary with at least 55% marks in Physics.
M .F.Sc Seafood Safety and Trade
Bachelors degree in Fisheries / Food Technology / Food Science /Microbiology / Biochemistry / Zoology with
at least 55% marks in optional subjects. Bachelors degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries /
Aquaculture / Fishery Science / Industrial Fish & Fisheries / B.F.Sc (Nautical Science). Bachelors degree
in Food Technology / Food Science includes B.Tech / B.E. / B.Sc. in Food Science and Technology / Food
Science and Management /Food Science / Food Technology / Food processing Technology / Food Science
and Quality Control
M. Sc. Statistics
B.Sc. degree in Mathematics or Statistics main with at least 55% marks for optional subjects taken together.
Note: 1.SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying examination unless otherwise

1.3. DUAL DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Master of Intellectual Property (MIP),Ph.D
Bachelors Degree in Law, Economics, Political Science, History, Management and Science & Technology with
55% from any of the Universities in Kerala or an examination of any other University accepted by the University
as equivalent thereto and should have obtained rank in CAT conducted by the University.
LL.M (IPR) Ph.D Degree
Bachelors Degree in Law with 55% from any of the Universities in Kerala or an examination of any other
University accepted by the University as equivalent thereto and should have obtained rank in CAT conducted
by the University.
Note: SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying examination.
2. ADMISSION TO M.TECH. PROGRAMMES
Admissions to the following M.Tech. programmes are based on valid GATE score as prescribed under the academic regulations
specific to each programme. Candidates not possessing GATE may also apply, but will be considered only if GATE qualified
candidates are not available. In such cases, admissions will be based on the DAT conducted by the respective Departments.
M. Tech. Atmospheric Science
1. M.Sc. degree or its equivalent in Meteorology, Oceanography, Mathematics, Physics, and Space Physics
with a First Class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score or a pass
in the Joint UGC CSIR Test (NET) for JRF.
M. Tech. Computer Aided Structural Analysis & Design
1. B.Tech or Equivalent degree in Naval Architecture and Ship building/Civil Engg./Mechanical Engg. with a
first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution 2. A valid GATE score.
M. Tech. Computer & Information Science
1. B.Tech or equivalent degree or AMIETE/AMIE in Computer Science/Information Technology or Electronics
and Communication or MCA; with a first class (60% marks) applicable to all the above from any recognized
University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score in the subject Computer Science and Information Technology..
M. Tech. Software Engg.
1. B.Tech or equivalent degree or AMIETE/AMIE in Computer Science/Information Technology or Electronics
and Communication or MCA; with a first class (60% marks) applicable to all the above from any recognized
University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score in the subject Computer Science and Information Technology..
M.Tech Computer Science with Specialization in Embedded Systems (Part-Time)
1. First Class B.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering / Electronics Engg. / Information Technology
/ Electrical Engg. or equivalent branches or M.C.A with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. 2. Minimum of 1
year experience in Industry/ University / Institution recognized by appropriate statutory bodies.
M. Tech. Electronics (With specialization in Digital Electronics, Microwave & Radar Electronics)
1. B.Tech or equivalent degree/AMIETE/AMIE in Electronics and Communication Engg./Electrical Engg./
Electronics and Instrumentation or M.Sc. degree in Electronics/Physics (with Electronics as specialization)
with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score in
Electronics/Electronics and Communication Engineering. 3. If sufficient numbers of candidates are not
available in Category 2 above, candidates with GATE score in Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronics Engg.,
Electrical Engg., or Physics will be considered. In the absence of GATE qualified candidates Non-GATE
candidates can be admitted on the basis of DAT.
M. Tech. Industrial Catalysis
1. M.Sc. degree in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry or any other degree recognized as equivalent with at least
a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution with valid GATE Score.
M Tech. Marine Engineering
1. Shall have passed B.Tech /BE/BS Degree in Marine Engineering or B.Tech/B Sc (Engg) Degree in
Mechanical Engineering or B Tech Degree in Naval Architecture & Ship Building with a minimum of 60% Marks
or an Examination of any other University/ Institution accepted by this University as Equivalent thereto with
60 % marks. Preference will be given to those who have passed MEO Class IV examination or a
minimum of two years professional experience in Ship building/ Ship repair yard/ Ship design
office / Indian Navy. For admission to M.Tech. Marine Engineering GATE score is not considered.
M. Tech. Marine Biotechnology
B. Tech/ BE in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Biotechnology,
Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B.Pharm., Chemical Technology or M.Sc. in Biotechnology,
Marine Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany/ Zoology/Biochemistry, Microbiology/Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial
Genetics and Bioinformatics, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology and Fisheries/Environmental Biotechnology/
Mariculture with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from any recognized Indian or Foreign University. For
admission to M.Tech. Marine Biotechnology GATE score is not considered. Selection of candidates is
done by JNU on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
M. Tech. Ocean Technology
1.M.Sc. Degree in Oceanography/Physics/Marine Geology/Meteorology/Marine Geophysics/ Environmental
Sciences or M.Sc (Tech) degree in Marine Geophysics or B.Tech. or equivalent degree /AMIE in Civil Engg./
Environmental Sciences with 60% marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score
in any of the subjects mentioned above as the second paper.
M. Tech. Opto-Electronics & Laser Technology
1. Masters Degree in Physics/Electronics/Photonics/B.Tech. or B.E. Degree in Electronics and Communication
Engg./Electronics Engg./Electrical Engg./Electrical and Electronics Engg. with a First Class (60%) from any
recognized University or Institution. (2) A valid GATE score in the concerned branch of study.( 3) if sufficient
numbers of candidates with GATE score in the concerned branch of study are not available, candidates with
GATE score in Instrumentation will be considered. If sufficient numbers of GATE score holders are not available
a pass in DAT is sufficient

2015 -

M. Tech. Polymer Technology


1. B.Tech. or equivalent Degree/AMIE in Polymer Science and Rubber Technology/Chemical Engg. / Technology
or M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry/M.Sc. Chemistry with Polymer Chemistry as specialisation with a first class
(60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution.
2. A valid GATE score.
M. Tech. Civil Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering**
a) Should have passed B.Tech/B.E/B.Sc Engineering Degree Examination in Civil Engineering branch with
a minimum 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /Institution
accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.
b) Candidates who have passed Sections A&B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India)
AMIE in Civil branch shall be eligible
c) A valid GATE Score.
In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE Score, candidates without GATE Score shall also be considered
subject to passing an admission test conducted by the University (DAT).
M. Tech Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal Engineering**
a) Should have passed B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc Engineering Degree Examination in Mechanical branch with a
minimum of 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /institution
accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.
b) Candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers
(India) AMIE in Mechanical branch shall be eligible
c) A valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering.
In the absence of GATE qualified candidates non GATE candidates can be admitted on the basis of a Departmental Admission
Test (DAT)
M Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering with specialization in Wireless Technology**
a) Should have passed B Tech/ B.E/ B Sc Engg Degrees in Electronics or Electrical and Electronics or
Electronics & Communication branch with a minimum of 60% marks from any University of Kerala or an
Examination of any other University/Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto
b) A valid GATE Score
In the absence of GATE qualified candidates non GATE candidates can be admitted on the basis of a Departmental Admission
Test (DAT)
M Tech Information Technology with specialization in Software Systems**
a) Should have passed B Tech/BE/B Sc Engg Degrees in Information Technology/Computer Science & Engg/
Computer Engg/Biomedical Engg/Electronics & Communication/Electronics/Electrical & Electronics branch
with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale from any University of Kerala or an
Examination of any other University/Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto
b) A valid GATE Score.
In the absence of GATE qualified candidates non GATE candidates can be admitted on the basis of a Departmental Admission
Test (DAT)
M Tech Health, Safety & Environment Management
a) Shall have passed B Tech / BE / BSc Engineering Degree Examination in Chemical/Civil/Mechanical/Safety
& Fire Engineering branches with a minimum of 60% marks from any University in Kerala or an Examination
of any other University/Institution accepted by the University as equalent thereto
b) Candidtates who have passed sessions A & B Examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers
(India) - AMIE in Chemical/Civil/Mechanical branches or Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers - AMIIChE
shall also the eligible.
c) A valid GATE score. In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidate without
GATE score shall also the considered subject to passing the Departmental Admission Test.
M Tech Computer Science & Engineering with specilisation in Network Computing
a) B Tech or equalent Degree / AMIETE / AMIE in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology
/ Electronics and Communication Engineering with a minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale
from any recognised University in Kerala or any other University Institution accepted by this University as
equalent thereto.
b) A valid GATE score. In the absence of sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidate without GATE score
shall also be considered on the performance in the Departmental Admission Test.
Part Time M.Tech. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engg. & Management), Chemical Engineering (Process Engg), Mechanical
Engg (Production Engg.) and Electrical & Electronics Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics.**
(i) Should have passed B.Tech/B.Sc Engg. Degree Examination in the respective branch with a minimum of
50% marks.
(ii) Candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations
in respective/allied branches conducted
by Institution of Engineers (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and Indian
Institute of Chemical Engineers are also eligible for admission if they have an Engineering Diploma or a basic
degree in Science.
(iii) Should have a minimum of 2 years experience in the concerned field after acquiring qualifying degree. This
may be relaxed if sufficient number of candidates with the minimum prescribed experience is not available
(iv) Open seats will be allotted on the basis of the score in Departmental Admission Test, marks obtained in
the qualifying examination and experience
Note: SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission to the courses mentioned under ii above if 1) they have pass mark in
the qualifying examination 2) a valid GATE score 3) in the absence of GATE qualified candidates, candidate not
possessing valid GATE score will be considered. In this case the admission will be based on DAT.
3. ADMISSIONS THROUGH DAT
Applicants for the programmes indicated under 3.1 - 3.4 are required to qualify the DAT.
3.1 POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME
M. A. Translation (German/Russian)
Bachelors degree of any University recognized by CUSAT and Diploma level knowledge in the language
concerned.
3.2 DIPLOMA /CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES (PART-TIME)
a. Certificate courses in French/German/Japanese/Russian.
Pass in pre degree / plus two or equivalent thereto of any University recognized by CUSAT. Previous
knowledge of the language is not essential.
b. Integrated Diploma in French/German/Italian/Japanese/ Russian
Pass in Plus two or equivalent. Previous knowledge in the language concerned is not essential.
c. Diploma in French/German/Japanese/ Russian
Pass in Pre-Degree/plus- two or equivalent thereto of any University recognized by CUSAT. Previous
knowledge of the language is not essential.
d. P.G. Diploma in Communicative English
Bachelors Degree holders of any University acceptable by CUSAT.
e. P.G. Diploma in Translation and Functional Hindi
Bachelors degree with Hindi as one of the subjects.
f. P.G. Diploma in Intellectual Property Laws
Bachelors Degree in Law, Economics, Political Science, History, Management and Science & Technology
/ Engineering
3.3 M. Phil. PROGRAMMES (FULL-TIME)
Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy Degree course should have passed a Masters Degree examination in
the concerned subject of any of the Universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an examination accepted

3.4 Ph.D. PROGRAMMES
Ph.D. programmes are offered in all the teaching Departments/Schools and recognized Institutions of the
University. Candidates are advised to ascertain the areas of research and the availability of vacancies from
the Departments/Schools or Recognized Institutions before-hand. Candidates intending to do research in the

The online application submission is a two-stage process.


In the first stage the candidate should submit a few basic details such as Name, Date of Birth, emailid, mobile phone no, etc correctly so as to get their user-id and password by SMS/email.

In the second stage the candidate should login using this user-id and password. Immediately they will be
asked to change their password. Now submit all other details required in the online registration form and
upload your recent passport size (color) photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB
and 100 KB and signature (3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB)

Please note that once the application is confirmed by pressing the CONFIRM button, no
further changes are possible.
In the chalan payment mode, choose your bank first and then take printout of the chalan form
along with the instructions page and make payment in the bank after two working days from
the date of registration. Make sure that the journal number is correctly entered by the bank
in the space provided in the chalan form before leaving the bank. Payment can also be made
from any Internet Banking enabled SBI/SBT a/c: Login to the internet banking account.
Choose Payments/Transfers. Choose Power Jyothi Fee Collection (PUL). Enter the fee type
as printed in your chalan and then click Submit button. In the Validation Date box enter
your date of birth as printed in the chalan. In the Fee Reference No box, enter your
registration no as printed in the chalan. Then click confirm button to complete the
transaction. Note down your transaction number for future reference.
After completing the registration process you should logout.

The University Departments/Schools located at the Lake Side Campus at Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682 016
are Atmospheric Sciences, Chemical Oceanography, Industrial Fisheries, Marine Biology, Microbiology &
Biochemistry, Marine Geology & Geophysics and Physical Oceanography.
3.6. POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP
CUSAT offers 7 Post Doctoral Fellowships, one each in the Faculties of Science, Social Science, Law,
Environmental Studies, Marine Sciences, Technology and Humanities. The Fellowship value is Rs.12,500/per month and a contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per annum. The minimum eligibility for the award of the
P.D.F. shall be Doctorate Degree in any of the faculty with at least two research publications in refereed
journals. To apply for PDF, the candidate shall identify a Mentor who shall be a permanent Faculty of the
University, holding a Doctoral Degree and shall be recognized Research Guide of the University and prepare
a Research Project Proposal in consultation with the Mentor in the specific format provided by the University
and submit the same to the Head/Director of the Department/School after authentication by the Mentor.

4. LATERAL ENTRY TO B. TECH THIRD SEMESTER THROUGH LET


B.Tech. in Civil Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg., Electronics & Communication
Engg., Information Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Mechanical Engg., Polymer Science & Engineering
and Safety & Fire Engg.
Eligibility: Any three year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education
recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala with not less than 60% marks.
The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission
5. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
1. International students (Foreign Nationals/People of Indian Origin/Children of Indian workers in Gulf Countries) are exempted
from the requirement of admission test (CAT/DAT) for the academic programmes of the University. They can apply either on self
financing basis or through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) attached to the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of
India. They are required to submit the application through online for the academic programmes of the University on payment of
US$ 100 by way of Demand Draft / Pay order/Any other instrument (which does not involve collection charges on the part of the
University) in favour of Registrar, CUSAT. Details are available in the Prospectus published in the website.
2. Applicants who have successfully registered online with CUSAT may forward an advance copy of the confirmation page along
with payment of registration fee (D.D./Pay Order) and relevant documents to the following address. The original confirmation
page should be forwarded with necessary documents either through the Embassy of India in the respective country, or through
the Embassy of their Country in India.

fee structure etc. at any time without any notice and this will be binding on the candidates
seeking admission.

6. IMPORTANT POINTS AT A GLANCE


1. All Candidates applying for Common Admission Test 2015 (CAT 2015) should submit their applications On-line.
International candidates and those applying for the Lateral Entry programme/ MBA / M.Tech. should also submit their
applications on-line. Candidates for PhD/PDF/M Phil/ MA Translation-German & Russian / Diploma/Certificate programmes
need not submit online application form. They can obtain the printed application from the concerned Departments on
request by paying the required application fee through Demand Draft, drawn in favour of Registrar, CUSAT payable
at Ernakulam, either by post or directly.
2. For MBA programme the selection is based on C-MAT (AICTE)/MAT(AIMA)/ CAT(IIM) score, Group Discussion and
interview of CUSAT. Those who wish to apply for Management programmes should compulsorily register for the same
on-line along with other programmes of CAT 2015.
3. The candidates should download the admit card for the Common Admission Test from the website (http://cusat.nic.in)
w.e.f. 20-04-2015 to 03-05-2015. Admit cards will not be sent to the candidates address by post. Candidates must
retain the Admit Card till the admission process is over. (To be produced whenever demanded)
4. No candidate will be permitted to appear for the Common Admission Test 2015 without a valid Admit Card.
5. Mode of payment of application fee for online submission: By cash payment at SBI or SBT bank using the chalan that can
be downloaded at the end of online registration/submission of application or through internet banking. Candidates who have
opted for test centre at Dubai should remit an additional amount of Rs.10,000/-.
6. Mode of payment for DAT application: By Demand Draft for required amount drawn in favour of Registrar, CUSAT
payable at Cochin, issued by SBT or SBI ONLY. Candidates should write his/her name and Application No. on upper left hand
corner of the reverse side of the DD. The DD should be drawn on or after the date of CAT 2015 Notification. DD drawn after the
last date fixed for the submission of application will not be accepted.
The application fees for various categories are:
Rs.1000/- for General Category Candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST Category. Rs.6000/- for candidates who
apply under NRI Quota
For Post Doctoral, Diploma & Certificate Programmes - Rs.100/- for general category and Rs.50/- for SC/
ST category.
Candidates having both Plus-Two and three year Diploma qualifications and intending to apply for both regular B Tech
programmes and Lateral Entry to B Tech Programmes are required to submit separate applications by remitting the
fees specified i.e. .1000/-+.1000/- for General candidates and ..500/-+.500/- for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe
candidates.
Application fees once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstance.

Do not send any document in original or copy to the University, unless otherwise specifically
requested for.
You should check your application status after two working days from the date of payment
of fee. If your application is approved, you should take printout of the application confirmation
page from the web site.
If the application submitted by the candidate is not approved within the time, the candidate
should take necessary action as indicated in the status page.
Candidates for MBA/M.Tech programmes who are awaiting results of CMAT/ MAT/CAT (IIM)
or GATE can apply online during the extended period also ie from 01-03-2015 to 30-04-2015.

7 ALLOCATION OF SEATS
Of the total seats for B.Tech (Self-Financing) programmes 50% are State Merit seats, 40% are All India Merit seats and 10% are
NRI payment seats.. The State Merit seats are earmarked for Keralites only. Communal reservation is applicable only for
candidates who are the natives of Kerala as per Kerala Govt. Rules.. For B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building,
Instrumentation and Polymer Science & Engineering 10% of the seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All India
Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites. For all regular Post-Graduate Programmes including subsidized Post-Graduate
programmes like M.C.A., M.B.A. (International Business), and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics programme 10% of the seats
are set apart for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining for Keralites.
A candidate will be considered as a Keralite for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if
a) He/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR
b) He/she has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR
c) He/she has undergone his/her school studies from standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in
Kerala OR
d) Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non Keralites) allotted to Kerala circle are deemed to be
Keralites [GO (Rt) No.822/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008]. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special
Reservations.
Rules for communal reservation framed by the Government of Kerala and implemented in the University from time to time will
be applicable to the various academic programmes. Besides communal reservation, specified number of seats are set apart
