OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

1. To Compare The Level Of Environmental Awareness Among Teacher
trainees with regard to gender.
2. To compare the level of environmental awareness among in-service
teacher trainees with regard to gender.
3. To compare the level of environmental awareness among teacher
trainees with regard to their subject stream (science/Humanities).
4. To compare the level of environment awareness among teacher
trainees of government and private college.
5. To compare the level of environmental awareness with regard to there
urban and rural background pre-service and in-service teacher.
HYPOTHESIS :

1. Pre service teacher trainees and in service teacher trainees do

not differ significantly in their level of environmental
awareness.
2. Pre service Science teacher trainees and in service science
teacher trainees do not differ significantly in their level of
environmental awareness.
3. Pre service humanities teacher trainees and In service
humanities teacher trainees do not differ significantly in their
level of environmental awareness.
4. Pre service male teacher trainees and in service male teacher
trainees
do not differ significantly in their level of
environmental awareness.

5. Pre service female teacher trainees and in service female

teacher trainees do not differ significantly in their level of
environmental awareness.
6. Pre service teacher traines of Government college and in
service teacher trainees of government college do not differ
significantly in their level of environmental awareness.
7. Pre service teacher trainees of private college and in service
teacher trainees of private college do not differ significantly
in their level of environmental awareness.

8. Pre service teacher trainees of urban background and in

service teacher trainees of urban background do not differ
significantly in their level of environmental awareness.
9. pre service teacher trainees of rural background and in
service teacher trainees of rural background do not differ
significantly in their level of environmental awareness.

CHAPTER 4

Analysis and Interpretation

4.1 INTRODUCTIONThe present chapter presents the analysis of data,
results sand their interpretation. Each section is followed by
a brief discussion of the results obtained.
Analysis of data means to make the raw data
meaningful or to draw some result form the data after the
proper treatment. The null hypothesis are tested with the
help of analysis of data so as to obtain some significant
result. Thus the analysis of data serves the following main
functions(i)

To make the raw data meaningful

(ii)

To test null hypothesis

(iii) To obtain significant results

(iv) To

draw

some

inference

or

make

generalization
(v)

To estimate parameters

After analyzing the data, the next step is to interpret

the results. The process of interpretation is essential on the
stating what the results or findings show? What do they
mean? What is the answer to the original problem?

Interpretation calls for a critical examination of the

result of one's analysis in the light of all the limitations of his
data gathering and his subjective attitude which should be
avoided. One must be critical of one's own thinking.
In the present study, the analysis and interpretation of
data were done in the following wayTESTING OF HYPOTHESIS NO. 1

pre-service teacher trainees and in service teacher trainees do not

differ significantly in their level of environmental awareness.
For testing above hypothesis mean and standard deviation of the scores of
these sub-groups were computed.
