Cheney Stadium, Tacoma, WA

Tacoma Rainiers (4-10) at Albuquerque Isotopes (9-5)

LHP Mike Montgomery (0-1, 6.23) vs. LHP Chris Rusin (1-0, 9.00)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Solo home runs from Jesus

Montero and Patrick Kivlehan were not enough for
the Rainiers to avoid a second consecutive loss to
the Isotopes, this time by a score of 5-3. Tacoma
starting pitcher Mike Kickham limited Albuquerque
batters to only two hits in 2.2 innings of work, but
issued five walks and surrendered four runs. Justin
Germano and Lucas Luetge combined to toss 6.1
innings, allowing one run on two hits. Kivlehan
finished the night 2-for-3 with one run, and one RBI.

GOODBYE BASEBALL: Rainiers pitchers have

allowed 19 home runs through the first 14 games,
the most by any pitching staff in the Pacific Coast
League. Those 19 home runs have produced 28
runs, or 35.4 percent of all the runs allowed by
Rainiers pitchers. Opponents have hit home runs in
11 of the 14 games played this season.

TOPES TOPPER: Rainiers starting pitcher Mike

Montgomery has a career 3.43 ERA (24ERx63.0IP)
against Albuquerque across seven starts. His last
time out against the Isotopes was April 13 on the
road, when he allowed one run on five hits through
6.0 innings of work, striking out three.

BRING EM IN: The Rainiers batting average of

.323 (43x133) with runners in scoring position is the
second best mark in the Pacific Coast League. The
eight doubles, two triples, and four home runs hit
with RISP gives Tacoma the fourth highest slugging
percentage in that situation (.504). Outfielder Stefen
Romero is currently hitting .462 (6x13) with RISP
with two doubles, one triple, one home run, and
nine RBI...

FAMILIAR FOE: Albuquerque starting pitcher

Chris Rusin has made two career starts against
the Rainiers, one of which came in Cheney
Stadium. Rusin has a record of 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA
(8ERx10.0IP) against Tacoma. His only Cheney
Stadium appearance was on May 24, 2011 when
he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits,
including one home run.

However, the Rainiers pitching staff has allowed

the third highest opponent average in the
league with runners in scoring position. The .333
(38x114) opponent average is only behind Fresno
(.343/59x172) and tonights foe Albuquerque
(.336/42x125). The 21 strikeouts generated by
Raineirs pitchers with RISP is tied for the second
lowest total in the Pacific Coast League.

DOWN EARLY: Tacoma has trailed in six-of-14

games at the time the starter left the game and
has trailed after the first inning five times, after the
second inning six times, and after the third inning
eight times.

IRON MEN: Rainiers infielder Ketel Marte is the

only player to have seen time in each of the clubs
14 games this year. The Mariners No. 4 prospect is
hitting .298 (17x57) with two doubles and six RBI.

NOTHING LEFT UNHIT: Isotopes starting pitcher

Chris Rusin, faces a Rainiers lineup that has hit .333
(57x171) against lefties this year. In comparison,
Tacoma has managed only a .238 (78x328) batting
average against right-handed pitchers. Six of the
Rainiers 15 home runs and 27 of 71 RBI have been
hit off lefties.
GERMANO FLOW: Rainiers reliever Justin Germano
(1-1, 1.42) ranks among the best pitchers in the
Pacific Coast league. His 1.42 ERA (2ERx12.2IP)
is the sixth best among qualified pitchers, while
his .091 (4x44) opponent batting average and 0.47
WHIP lead the league. He has held opponents
scorless in three of his five outings.

GOING NUCLEAR: Jesus Montero and Chris Taylor

combined to hit .370 (10x27) agaisnt the Isotopes
the first time the two teams met. Montero notched a
pair of doubles and two RBI, while Taylor smacked
four hits with two runs and two RBI.
QUEST FOR 4000: The Rainiers need 13 victories
to record 4,000 all-time franchise wins. Since 1960,
Tacoma has put together a record of 3,987-3,969 (.501).
The Rainiers record as an affiliate of the Seattle
Mariners is 1,464-1,412 (.510).

(52ERx67.0IP) posted by the Tacoma starting
rotation. 15-of-31 relief appearances have been
