the Civil War. He
described how
a committed
Christian came
to the Army and,
on his very first
night, read his
Bible around the
campfire, knelt on the ground, and prayed
even though some troops made fun of
him. He was soon wounded at Antietam
and carried off the field. As soon as he was
able, he took his Bible from his pocket and
kissed it repeatedly, “bathing it in tears and
searched out the cherished promises of
God.” He noted that “a new life was infused
in his soul, which enabled him to bear his
sufferings with true Christian heroism.”
With a calm faith, Albert said goodbye and
dictated a letter to his mother: “Take life or
friends away so I would find them all again
on that eternal day.”

you stopped. Make it up later. Let’s fall in

Can you imagine kissing the Bible

repeatedly because it is so precious to
you? Do we have that kind of devotion to
scripture and that faith which would allow
us to “go down to the cold waters of Jordan”
in death as the Chaplain wrote? The
prophet was told in Ezekiel 3:3 to “Eat this
scroll.” As he did, he noted that “it tasted as
sweet as honey.” Over 1,800 of our people

 Quiet Time - An Essential Part of Every Day
As food is to the physical body, so the Word of
God is an essential part of our daily walk with
the Lord. Quiet Time is the part of the day that
we have set aside to read and meditate on the
Word of God, as well as a time to communicate
with our Heavenly Father. This is also a time
that Satan will make an all out effort to distract
you. Knowing the importance of Quiet Time
and the daily temptations to make other
things a priority, we have made available the
“Word of Life Quiet Time Guide” to purchase
and use on a daily bases.
The “Word of Life Quiet Time Guide” is an age
appropriate and systematic way for everyone
in your family to participate in daily Quiet Time.
Beginning at the kindergarten level all the
way up to senior adult, there is a Quite Time
guide for you. One of the great things about
the “Word of Life Quite Time Guide” is that the
entire family will be reading parts of the same
passage everyday. This way dad, mom, teen,
and child will all be reading and pondering
the same Scripture passage. Daily in the adult
Quite Time guide, we are given a passage of
Scripture to read, a brief commentary to help
give insight and meaning, and two questions
to answer: “What is the writer saying,” and
“How can I apply this to my life?”
Our mandate from the Lord to His Church
is to evangelize and disciple. To be a true
disciple of our Lord we must make His Word
an essential part of our every day schedule.
Over 1,800 Word of Life Quiet Time books
have been purchased by our members this
year. Our hearts desire is that everyone in our
congregation will be hiding the Word in their
heart.

Review” as we look at what we have learned so far in our series,
“Winter Extreme”. During Game Show
Review, children have an opportunity to
review what they have already learned
in a way that is sure to create a lot of
laughs.
Each week at KidzTown, children
have a great time singing, studying
God’s Word, and worshiping the Lord
“Kid Style”. Parents, if your child has
not yet experienced the fun of a child
style worship experience, please don’t
hesitate to bring him to KidzTown. KidzTown is open to all children
in 1st through 4th grades and is located in DC120.

 Prime Timer’s Luncheon
The next Prime Timer’s Luncheon will be held on

Cassie Rae Kramer was born on January 31, 2010 to Bill and Susan
Kramer. Cassie weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces, and measured 20”. Cassie

Volunteer Leaders
Champions are church members who are needed to
coordinate/lead many ministries within First Baptist. This
week we are highlighting:
Helps Outreach
Helps Outreach is an evangelistic ministry to the poor. It
collects and distributes clothing, food, furniture, and other
household items. The ministry is staffed exclusively by
volunteers.
The volunteer champion will help the ministry raise
funds, primarily securing “partners” who will finance
overhead expenses. The champion will mainly call on
churches and other Christian groups. It would be
beneficial for the champion to have had marketing
experience.

The weekly commitment is expected to be five to ten

hours. The champion can be a seasonal resident.

 Brooks Brothers Fundraising Event
for “Helps Outreach”
Brooks Brothers Clothiers, founded in 1818 in New York City, located at the
Waterside Shops in Pelican Bay, will be hosting a day long fundraising event for Helps
Outreach, a local public charity. Helps Outreach distributes food, clothing, furniture, and
other household items to the poor and needy at no cost to them.

Helps Outreach began 10 years ago from a 9' X 10' spare bedroom and is
now housed in a 5000 square foot facility located at 2025 J & C Boulevard off
Airport Road in Naples. Angie Valentini, founder, informed us that this time
last year the center was serving 500-600 people per month, but because of
this severe recession, is now serving over 2500 people per month. The needs
are great, but our community which is so blessed always steps up to the
challenge.
We encourage all to visit Brooks Brothers on Friday, Feb. 12th and help make this
a most successful event. 10% of the day's proceeds will be donated to Helps Out-
reach. An anonymous donor has agreed to match whatever Brooks Brothers raises
during the event. .
