The 4th Sunday of Easter is Good Shepherd Sunday! Our Gospel for this Sunday opens with these
words: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 10:11
This reminds us once more of how much God loves and cares for us! We are also reminded that
we are all called to be good shepherds to one another. Parents, all priests, religious, bishops, and
the Pope are especially called to follow Christs model and to be good shepherds! Let us pray for all
of them!
Congratulations to our 2nd graders for receiving their first communion this Sunday, April 26:
Langstyn Arthur-Solivan, Graci Murphy, Zack Benso, Bryce Reese, AJ Cuthbertson, Aydin
Sisney, Kaylee Davied, MaKenna Smith, Conner Droessler, Isabella Walsh, and Kaylen
McAtee. May they continue to grow in wisdom and knowledge of God like the child Jesus and
become His witnesses in the world. Congratulations also to their parents for fulfilling their
promises when they receive the sacrament of marriage and when they asked the church to have
these children baptized that they will be brought up in the faith of the Catholic Church.
Congratulations too to their catechists, especially to Paula Sevart with the unwavering support of
our PSR coordinator Michelle Puckett! May God reward you all for making this wonderful grace
filled moment happened!
Together with Bishop Kemme, we are sad to hear that the retired Francis Cardinal George of
Chicago passed away last Thursday, April 17 at the age of 78. He was fighting cancer. He was at
the episcopal ordination of Bishop Kemme in Wichita last year. Bishop Kemmes message
regarding his death says "Learning of the death of Francis Cardinal George, retired Archbishop of
Chicago, I offer to the Cardinals family and to the Archdiocese of Chicago where he served as
archbishop with great distinction my humble prayers for the eternal repose of his soul. I was deeply
honored that Cardinal George attended my own episcopal ordination here in Wichita just last May.
I will always remember him as a friend and a mentor. His great intellectual abilities coupled with
his undying love and passion for the Roman Catholic Church will be a lasting legacy for the
Universal Church and for the Catholic Church here in the United States. May he rest in peace."
The month of May is here before we know it! Lots of exciting things
are going to happen: May crowning and 8th Grade recognition on the
first Sunday, May 3rd; Mothers Day on the second Sunday; May 10th,
then we have the wedding of Ryan Ashmore and Savanna OToole on
May 16th at Saint Michael; Sunday, May 17th is our High School Seniors
Recognition, and on Saturday, May 23rd is the wedding of Arma
parishioners Ethan Edwards and Alyssa Dugone at Sacred Heart
Church in Frontenac. Pray for these couples who are getting married!
Also, kindly include in your prayers our High School kids who will be
off to college and for the 8th graders who will be moving up to High
School!

God bless you all! Fr. Roger

Anniversary Celebration for Fr. Roger

St. Michael parish is celebrating Fr. Rogers 29th year anniversary of

his ordination to the Priesthood, with a fundraiser to benefit the
Meal in His Name and the Ministerial Alliance food pantry. The
event will begin at the 5:30pm mass this Saturday, April 25. After
mass, we will have food, music, karaoke, games, a raffle, and much
more. We invite you all to join us!

Easter Lilies

The lilies have now lost most of their blooms, but are still healthy
green plants. These can be transplanted into your garden and will
return next year. If anyone is interested in transplanting any of the
flowers please take the green plants after any of the masses.

Parish Council Meeting

The St. Joseph Parish Council will meet on Tuesday, April 28 at

6:00pm in the parish rectory.

Please Pray for the Sick of our Parish

Please pray for parishioners Verna Versalona and Judy Smerchek

Michelle Puckett (724-4364) for more information and registration

FIRST COMMUNION CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the children of St. Michael & St. Joseph parishes

on their reception of the sacrament of First Communion this
weekend! What a special day it is not only for each of them but also
for their families. Pray that God will continue to bless and watch over
these special young people and help them to understand the
importance of the Eucharist in their lives. A special word of thanks to
all those who helped prepare the children for this special day. May
God reward them for their ministry to our parish community!
