INTRODUCTION
Accessibility Bar & Screen Reader is a plugin for Joomla! designed for those who want their site to
the highest levels of accessibility and readability of pages. Besides the classic features of "resizing"
of fonts and high contrast of the text (as required by law Stanca and specific WACAG 1-2) provides
innovative tools including:
Screen reader with Google API integration built in Joomla supporting more than 40 languages,
selective high contrast that allows to perform the function of high contrast ONLY on slices of the
page,
magnifying glass,
extraction in a light box part of the contents with an adjustable magnification factor,
Screen Reader Accessibility & Bar is native to Joomla! 1.5 - 1.6 - 1.7 and 2.5 is ideal for sites that
are accessible, easy setup and pleasing graphics.
Born from the experience with another plugin developed in the field of accessibility has been
designed both to comply with the guidelines in this area (Requirement 12 so-called law "Tired,"
WCAG 1.0: 3.4) and also to offer an extremely comprehensive and unique.
INSTALLATION
The installation of the plugin is "easy" plug & play and includes:

click on the menu header of 'extensions' / 'install / uninstall' for Joomla 1.5 or 'extensions /
frtools_25_v1.0.zip for Joomla! 1.6, 1.7, 2.5 downloaded from the site by 2 points,
If the installation is completed without errors, the plugin will display the message of success and
bar application containing the various controls. By default Joomla sets the publication of

Once obtained the domain activation code, you have to insert it in the plugin configuration
field and press Activate button as shown below, and you will gain plugin activation.
Moreover the plugin will show you the status of the domain code you purchased with the

Finally the Plugin activated will show an enabled icon and the accessibility bar will be
visible in frontend site.
If you uninstall and install again the plugin on the same domain you will be able to use again
the same code with no increment on its activated domains.

Maximum font size magnfication % sets the maximum size of the character changed from
frontend.
Minimum font size magnfication sets the minimum size of the character changed from
frontend.
Default font-size sets the default font-size for characters (on page load and reset recall).
High contrast CSS class name sets the class to be assigned to body element to vary the
styles of the high contrast. By changing the CSS, you can then change the background of the
high contrast.
Default bar status sets if on page load by default the bar is opened or closed. Users can
override this settings changing this preference by pressing the switcher button for their own
working session
Enable\Disable buttons you can choose what buttons should appears on frontend bar. By
default all buttons and functionlity are enabled.
Zoomable elements list You can put a list of items comma separated that will be
considered valid to be enlarged with a magnifying glass. By default the plugin enlarges all
images and all paragraphs of text (default: img, p). This field supports complex CSS3 selectors
for example: You can select only paragraphs of a specific class using the syntax img,
p.classname or some div elements of interest with img, p.classname, div.otherclassname. It is
advisable not to slow down the operation of the browser or hang it to avoid enter generic
selectors on pages containing many of them, for example a generic -div- selector.
Magnifying ratio sets the default magnifying percentage for zoom, by default x2

Readable chunk lenght sets the maximum chunk length read by screen reader for every
iteration between server requests. If you experiment some peformance problem you can
change this parameter, but normally it should remain untouched.
Read child elements This parameter determines whether the reading should be done on
the clicked item only or also on other HTML child elements of clicked item if child nodes
containing valid text.
