Chapter Thirteen

“Unhand me,” screamed Dezzick, “How in Lucifer’s name have I

committed treason! Answer me!” The guards strapped him down to a rusty,

unstable chair. A figure struck him with some blunt object. “So,” said the female

voice, “you thought you could fool us!” “Please,” gasped Dezzick, “the chancellor

said I’ve committed treason but I-,” The figure struck him again, “How dare you

question Samyaza judgment! How dare you question Lucifer’s law!” The prisoner

was struck again. This time Dezzick could tasted his blood. He managed to spit

out the word, “Miss, all I want is an explanation.”

“Two days ago,” began the voice, “someone stole the blueprints and battle

formations that only Spine had access to. The blueprints were of new weapons

and the map of the whole defense system of Hell! They were in Spine’s hands,

and because you are the head of Spine, you are responsible. You are the culprit!”

“But that should only get in prison for life,” protested the prisoner. “Yes,

but there are more charges,” said the voice, “We have testimony saying that you

are against the Cause! You were even considering joining the enemy! Are the

accusations true?”

Dezzick’s heart raced. He was speechless with no answer. It was true! He

didn’t believe in it! He no longer believed Lucifer was the righteous being he

claimed to be! Maybe he never did in the first place? He hated all of these
bastards, especially after what happened to his family. He couldn’t follow the

Cause anymore.

But what should he do? If he pleads guilty, he will die. He will die, and

Nara will after him. He must find an excuse, or he must find a way out. To his

dismay, he was strapped down. Even if he escaped, They would come for Nara

when they realized the connection the two of them had! He must say no! He must,

so that he will live; so that Nara will live! Dezzick looked into the eyes of one of

the guards. They were cold and quenched for blood. He knew by now that even if

he did say no, it would be pointless. His death was inevitable, no matter his

choice. Dezzick looked down and gathered the will to say what needed to be said,

no matter the consequence. With all his breath, he said the word, “Yes.”

“Your position has been relieved from you. You are now a convict and a

traitor,” said the female figure, “Take this worthless thing and flog him! Then

assign him a jail-cell. Tomorrow, his destination is the Pit! Sad, you ended just as

your father. He had such dreams as you did in the latter part of his life. Oh well,

like the old saying goes: like father, like son.” And with that they carried the new

convict to be flogged once more.
