Fractal Terrains 3 (FT3) allows you to create entire detailed worlds, edit them
and export them into a variety of formats. The worlds can be based on mathematic
al functions, created from real-world data, or based on a flat, featureless glob
e. You can view and edit the height, rainfall, climate and temperature. You can
export data to formats including CC3, HTML and VRML.
What's new in Fractal Terrains 3?
- Added support for exporting Campaign Cartographer 3 maps.
- Added texture climate shader for using bitmap textures for climate areas.
- Interface has been updated to use a variety of Windows themes.
- Added Cosmographer 3 template export.
- Added output of current view as 16-bit heightfield PNG.
- Prescale offset painting tools are now available from the toolbar with the oth
er painting tools.
- The PNG image format is now supported throughout FT.
- Performance scales better with the number of processors available on the syste
m.
- Added normalize tool to manually fix problems with painting in earlier version
s that could cause black areas to appear on the world.
- Fixed -180/+180 boundary drawing problems.
- Fixed bitmap export crash problem.
- Texture climate shader now works on sea areas.

- Removed the "maximum resolution" preference because users kept confusing it wi
th editing resolution.
- Added /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag to allow for 4GB address space on 64-bit windows
and 3GB address space on 32-bit windows (need /3GB switch on XP boot.ini). This
change should make working with larger files a little easier.
- Added projection, save, and showshader script commands.
- All shaders now appear on the main menu and context menu.
- MDR files appear in the binary file filter. They should load properly now, too
