Tutorial Sheet Part-5 (Feedback amplifier)

1. Draw a feedback amplifier in block diagram form. Identify each block and state
its function.
2. (a) Name the four basic topologies of a feedback amplifier. (b) For each such
topology identify the physical quantities related to the output signal X o , the input
signal X i and the feedback signal X f , (c)Give the dimensions of the transfer
gain A of each topology and feedback factor .
3. State the three fundamental assumptions which are made in order that the
expression A f

be satisfied exactly.

4. State the advantages of using negative feedback.

5. List the procedure to obtain the basic amplifier configuration without feedback
but taking the loading of the network into account.
6. List the steps required to carry out the analysis of a feedback amplifier.
