The students will write the definitions of moderato, allegro, and presto in their parts and follow
these tempo markings while playing Can-Can.
The students will play their concert pieces in program order with good posture and correct notes,

encountered.
S1C2PO103: maintaining good posture and playing position.
Materials: Instruments and bows

Pencils
Whiteboard and marker
Anticipatory set: Rehearsal order is written on the whiteboard. Students unpack their
instruments for tuning and put their music in rehearsal order. Students stand and bring their
instruments into playing position.
Process:
1. Open string warm up
2. 1st finger escalator C, G, D, A, E strings
3. Lets play through Roller Coaster Rock and review our D and G Major scales. Which
scale do we start with? Play through Roller Coaster Rock.

4. Check to make sure that your music is in the order written on the board. This is the
program order. We will be playing the pieces in this order at the concert. Pick up your
pencils and mark in the order of the pieces. Students number their pieces.
5. Teacher explains baton gestures to students and students practice rest position and
playing position. Now lets start with the GM tunes. Everyone plays through this one
together. Students play through GM tunes while teacher conducts and mentor plays
piano.
6. Go on to Enchi-chilada. Everyone will play this together as well. Students play through
piece.
7. Go on to Quiero Bailar. Make sure to look ahead for the bow lifts and take all the
repeats. Students play through piece.
8. Go on to the DM tunes. These will be the last pieces on the concert, and we will read
down the sheet in order, so Ode to Joy will be first. We all play this one together.
Students play Ode to Joy.
9. Frere Jacques will be done a little bit differently. Pick up your pencils and write down
this information in your music. Teacher explains the road map of the piece and students
write down the information. Teacher asks students to repeat it back to check for
understanding. Then students play through piece.
10. Can-Can will be the last piece on our concert, and were going to do something special
with it so it will be an exciting finale. We will play it 3 times, and each time we will get
faster. Students write down tempo words moderato, allegro, and presto and
definitions in their music. Students play through piece and practice following the
conductors baton.
