protection and stabilisation of subsea pipelines, cables and umbilicals.

Uni-flex concrete mattresses

We design, engineer and manufacture a range of standard and bespoke concrete mattresses to suit your subsea application and can
be used for protection, stabilisation, anti-burial and crossing supports.
Products include bi-flex concrete mattresses, N2 high-performance tapered edge-block mattresses and uni-flex concrete mattresses.
We can also offer an anti-abrasive interface to all products.
Standard product sizes are 6.0 x 3.0m and available in 150mm, 300mm and 450mm thickness and available in a range of densities
from 2400kg/m3 to in excess of 4800kg/m3.
Bespoke products can be manufactured to project specific dimensions as required.

Bitumen Mattresses

Bitumen mattresses are used to support and protect pipelines and cables with a cushioned interface to reduce the risk of damage from
sharp edges. Our bitumen mattresses offer good impact resistance and can be used where concrete is considered too abrasive.
They are manufactured from a special blend of mastic contained within an outer canvas sheet with integral lifting systems.
Our bitumen mattresses are bespoke sizes made to order though available in 150mm and 300mm thickness and can be sized to suit
project requirements whilst maintaining a minimum depth to width ratio for integrity.

Rock Mattresses

Our rock mattresses are an effective alternative to a conventional rock dump process. They can be used to protect and
stabilise pipelines and cables as well as levelling uneven seabeds.
Rock mattresses benefit from containment and placement accuracy to prevent rock migration.
Our rock mattresses are manufactured with integral lifting devices compatible with our standing lifting and installation
equipment as well as a fabric centreline to aid with subsea placement.

Grout Bags and Mastic

Our added value products and services complement our precast solutions.
Products include offshore rated bulk-bags and drop bags and either can be
loose filled with sand, aggregate or grout, or be packed with individual 25kg,
40kg, 50kg or bespoke sacks to suit any application. Our individual sacks can
be fitted with handles for ease of placement and security.

Bolster Bag

Pipeshield also supplies Granular Marine Mastic, well suited for pipeline joint
coating. We can also supply marine mastic in bulk or offshore rated sacks for
in-situ and in-field placement.

Fabric Formworks

Our formworks are both diver and ROV friendly and

can be used for pipeline free-span correction.

We offer both bespoke or standard fabric formworks well suited for

various applications including pipeline support, foundation seals,
void filling etc.
Our standard formworks are available in various heights and base
dimensions to suit pipelines up to 1150mm diameter.
Our formworks are fabricated in the UK to maintain strict QHSE
processes.

Installation beam

We design, engineer and manufacture a range of lifting, handling and

installation equipment.
This includes our standard ROV and diver friendly quick-release lifting
frames and beams as well as specialist deployment frames and
enhanced speed-loader arrangements.
We have developed an enhanced speed-loader arrangement
compatible with most of our concrete mattress products. Our speedloader negates edge block damage which could impact on the
performance of mattresses and render them unusable.

Project Southern North Sea Project
Title Fronded Mattress Trials

Photos from a one year trial by Shell in the southern North Sea showing the formation
of a sediment bank over a Frond System (photos supplied by Shell).
At the previously scoured pipeline a fully developed and compacted sediment bank
has been formed over the buoyant fronds and marine life has colonised the final
bank.
Pipeshield Bi-Flex mattresses with buoyant fibrillated polypropylene fronds (SSCS
supplied) are proven in a full range of scour sensitive environments. Typically fronds
are 1.25m high and provide the capability of sediment banks over 900mm high in 35 60 days in good conditions.

Free-span Correction Services
Our equipment is well suited for free-span correction where pipelines and structures require
supporting across uneven seabed.
Pile Annulus Grouting Services
We offer a complete structural pile grouting services through injecting grout to fill the annulus
from grout seal to top of sleeve.
Structural Grout Strengthening
Our equipment can be used for structural grout strengthening due to fatigue, new or existing
connections or damage repairs. This includes grout filled tubulars and grout clamping.

Installation Turntable
Our installation turntable is used to deploy fabric formwork to the
seabed on free-span rectification projects where remote operated
vehicles (ROV) are the preferred system for installation.
The turntable is an efficient method of rectifying deep water pipeline
free-spans and is launched and recovered via the work vessel deck
crane or an A-frame system.
