Tarkio High School FFA


members honored at banquet
The Tarkio High School
FFA Chapter held its annual
awards banquet on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the
Tarkio Elementary Gym.
The 2014-15 FFA Chapter is
led by sponsor Dustin Lambertsen and officers Dylan
Crawford - President, Gentri Staten - Vice-President,
Karlly Eyman - Secretary/
Treasurer, and Ethan Riley Reporter. Before the ceremonies began, a delicious meal
was enjoyed by all.
This years youngest and/
or newest members were
awarded the Greenhand Degree. Greenhands include
Lauren Quimby, Tawni Martin, Bella Hurst, Melissa
Lang, Colin Joesting, Dayton Murry, Shae DeRosier,
and Alissa Hurst. One hardworking greenhand is also
presented the Star Greenhand Award. This years recipient was Colin Joesting.
The Chapter Degree was
presented to Karlly Eyman,
Haley Hall, Alissa Hurst,
Kris Riley, and Dawson Joesting.
Each year, the FFA Chapter recognizes a business or
an organization that goes
above and beyond to support the chapter throughout
the year. This years Blue &
Gold Award was presented
to Advanced Pork Systems
and KMA Broadcasting. Advanced Pork Systems provides a pregnant sow to the
school each year so that the

FFA and ag students can


learn how to properly care
for and raise the mother and
piglets. KMA Broadcasting
named Tarkio High Schools
FFA Chapter as its chapter
of the year and has periodically done special features
on the chapter, focusing on
special activities the students are involved in.
Proficiency Awards were
also presented. They included: Beef Production - Colin
Joesting; Swine Production
- Ethan Riley, Haley Hall,
Dawson Joesting, and Kris
Riley; Diversified Crop Dayton Murry; and Nursery
Operations - Alissa Hurst.
Scholarship Awards were
presented to an FFA member in each grade. They included: freshman - Colin Joesting; sophomore - Karlly
Eyman; junior - Lea Peregrine; and senior - Dylan
Crawford.
Each year, the Joesting
family remembers the late
David Joesting by presenting a scholarship in his name
to one senior FFA member.
This years David Joesting
Scholarship was presented
to Dylan Crawford.
The 2015-2016 officers
were installed. They include:
President - Alissa Hurst,
Vice-President - Ethan Riley,
Secretary/Treasurer - Haley
Hall, Reporter - Karlly Eyman, Sentinel - Dawson Joesting, and Historian - Kris
Riley.

David Joesting Scholarship


Each year, the Joesting family - Remembers the late David Joesting by presenting a scholarship in his name to one senior FFA member. This years David Joesting
Scholarship was presented to Dylan Crawford, middle. Joesting family members pictured

There will be an A+ meeting on May 12, 2015, at 6:30


p.m. in the Tarkio High
School Auditorium for any
8th and 9th grade student
and parents who are interested in the A+ program for
next year. The A+ program
is a wonderful program the
state of Missouri has that
pays for a students tuition
at most community colleges
within the state. Many fouryear universities also offer
A+ scholarships for those
students who complete the
program.

football players and their
parents are encouraged to
attend a meeting Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 7 p.m.
in the Fairfax School Gym
in Fairfax, MO. This meeting is for all students entering grades 7-12 in the fall of
2015 and who are wanting
to play football.

senior awards assembly
will be held on Friday, May
15, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the
gymnasium. Teachers, students, parents, and community members are invited to
attend.
