The Institute for Supply Chain Excellence (Institut Suprieur de Logistique


Industrielle ISLI) was created in 1984 at Kedge Business School, in order to develop
the schools expertise in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
It was supported in this by different logistics associations, such as ELA (European
Logistics Association), CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professional)
and SCC (Supply Chain Council).
ISLI is today widely recognised as one of Europe's leading centres not only for the
quality of its teaching, but also in the standard of its research and publications and
its international co-operation projects.
The Institute has a dual objective : to prepare students and executive managers for
the profession of Supply Chain Management and to contribute to the development or
research into Logistics and Supply Chain Management issues.
Within one specialised Institute, ISLI combines 4 major areas of activity :
1. TWO PROGRAMMES
The teaching programme consists of 750 hours of courses over 9 months, followed by
a company placement in a context of Supply Chain Project, lasting 4 to 6 months
(from the month of July).
The courses are handled by a teaching faculty which includes the best specialists in
Supply Chain.
They utilise a wide variety of teaching techniques with a combination of seminars
and visits of International companies. The students are exposed to business
situations by case studies and practical workshops in companies.

Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management Program in English

The Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management is a full time program
and taught in English.
The Master of Science is composed of a mix of courses in Supply Chain
Management with an emphasis on practical experience in company :
- An international company project of 6 month from october to april in part time

2. RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION


The Institute develops research projects in collaboration with national and
international companies, with universities throughout the world and with
government bodies. The principal aim of this research is to consider in depth new
techniques and methods in the field of logistics.
These studies are published in a professional journal, Logistique et Management
which was created by ISLI. This biannual publication is distributed to professionals
in the field and aims to make a valuable contribution to the development of Logistics,
in dealing with a variety of issues concerning company organisation and
management.
The Institute proposes also an English publication. By welcoming new ideas, original
experiences and contributions from our International Academic partners, Supply
Chain Forum : an international journal is an international platform of new
concepts.

3. EXECUTIVE PROGRAMME
ISLI offers part time programmes, from a wide variety of professional horizons,
covering all concepts of Supply Chain Management .

4. INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
Since its creation, the Institute has maintained a policy of profitable relations with
other postgraduate schools and institutes throughout the world. The partnership
agreements that have developed give rise to regular student and faculty exchanges
and a sharing of pedagogical knowledge and research. A student and professor
exchange network has been built up with MBA and Master Programmes in Logistics
from Universities, such as in Ohio, London, Montreal Staff from ISLI regularly
attends seminars, conferences in major international cities.

GERMANY
ASSIGNMENT
Within the framework of the reorganisation of distribution across Northern Europe, optimization of provisioning
operations at the centre in Germany in terms of inventory management, delivery lead-times, and of the various
procedures used. Similarly, for the opening of the new centre in Holland, ensuring the switch over from the old
computer system to the new one.
METHODOLOGY
Provisioning : reduction of inventory - improvement of delivery lead-times - review of procedures.
Forecasting : study of the BPCS forecasting module - implementation in the stores - assistance in mapping.
RESULTS EXPECTED
Increased productivity at the German centre.

SWITZERLAND
ASSIGNMENT
Within the framework of the Integrated Supply Chain Management project and constraint production planning,
our markets are connected, both for sales forecasts and for replenishment planning, with our production facility.
The purpose of the assignment is to enable the use of more reliable and better updated market data at the level of
production planning, by participating in the installation of the Constraint Production Planning (CPP) module
which will finally become the sole source of a realistic plan for production planning.
METHODOLOGY
Creation of relationships between the products sold in the marketplace, the quantities forecast for Replenishment
Planning and the time of use of the key production facilities.
The CPP module will then be parameterized with the ISCM team and with the help of an outside consultant.
RESULTS EXPECTED
Identification of best practices and drafting of user procedures.
User training.

ASSIGNMENT
Support for the Logistics Department for the action plan on inventory reliability and inventory reduction.
Extension of the Kanban network, in-house and externally (40 items per month).
Action plan for reducing situations of absence of provisioning on product lines.
METHODOLOGY
Embodiment of Kanban.
Processing of logistics data and implementation of business indicators.
Participation in the SMED sites.
Organisation of reprovisioning tours of suppliers with the BAC system.
RESULTS EXPECTED
Reaching the objectives for the plant inventory
Reduction of out-of-stock situations for product lines.

SPAIN
ASSIGNMENT
Participation in the design and embodiment of a new logistics system.
METHODOLOGY
Analysis of existing facilities.
Definition of the objectives assigned to the companies.

Choice of the best service companies in terms of quality, security and cost.
Implementation of logistics based on product quality and customer service, with concomitant development of inhouse communications.

Development of the components of a proposal for provisioning management services for private hospitals.
METHODOLOGY
Working on the operations already installed to fully analyse the workings of the service provided.
RESULTS EXPECTED
Drafting of proposal applicable resulting in the implementation of full collaboration between us and a similar
health care establishment.

ASSIGNMENT
Drafting of detailed mapping of the products in the new distribution centre.
Drafting of a plan for the transfer of the activity to the new centre.
Participation in and monitoring of the test and start-up phases.
Drafting of and participation in the tenders.

GREAT BRITAIN
ASSIGNMENT
Support for the logistics area
Place schedules / stock order on suppliers by due deadlines. Stipulate delivery dates to suppliers and chase
overdue deliveries.
Align stocks to sales activity and maintain stocks within set budgetary levels.
METHODOLOGY
Send a 12 months rolling forecast in factory once a month.
Send to the factory some situations once a week.
Update the Quality, Cost and Delivery form in order to mesure the suppliers performances.
RESULTS EXPECTED
Decrease stock level in Rotating electrics
Decrease the number of suppliers.
Have a ratio stock to sales at 13% at the end of 1999.
Maintain a stock availability at 95 %.

The mission will be the kitting initiative that is currently in process with. Our goal is to reduce the number of
SKU's (stock keeping units / unique parts) within the project.
METHODOLOGY
Reviewing of Manufacturing Bill of Materials to identify components and their usage quantities
Strategic interface with packaging design engineers to determine best case packaging resolution for production
floor re-supply
Interface with internal distribution to develop delivery methods and means to the line side foot prints
Inventory review upon wich strategic car effectivity cut-ins will be determined
Interface with Supply Base to coordinate efforts and cut-ins
Generate documentation supporting the MCO (Manufacturing Change Order) process.

The purpose of the project is to evaluate the possibility of getting for all EU countries part of Continental Europe
Geomarket a Central storage facility for material in Holland.
METHODOLOGY
Set objective, scope and targeted metrics
Identify supply chain network and elements within the scope (suppliers/distribution centers.stores.customers)
Map all inventory levels in the different countries and understand the need by country
Map all document required to move explosive from Holland to other countries to be aligned with legal/custom
