Breaking the Odds: War on Terror

The War on Terror or the alternative word that is used Global War on Terrorism refers to
the international military campaign that the US president George w. bush started right after the
September 11, 2001 attacks. The main focus that George bush said was to dismantle Al-Qaida
and other militant groups.
The main theme of this research paper is to find the guilty one for the 4th generation urban
war in Pakistan. It is thought that Pakistan helped creating the Taliban, referring to the afghan
war, and now they are bouncing back on Pakistani soil. But before touching this clich issue we
have deal with the question
1: what were the arguments that Pakistani administration provided for engaging in war?
2: if the arguments were right than why a group like TTP emerged?
The discovery of answer will solve the clich yet important issue which is engulfing the
time in different spares of life.
Taking a backward jump of almost a half century, reveals that the current areas which
cover Pakistan and Afghanistan were peaceful. The situation changed dramatically right after the
soviet invasion of Afghanistan. This is where the research paper bashes the hammer of history.
By picking this course of the history, is proved to be a milestone in the study of war on terror
because a lot has been done but all study is biased on one of the two sides. Taking historic
account this paper answer the very important questions concerning the war in Pakistan and
Afghanistan and finally let the reader to decide who is responsible for the current TTP (Takreeke-Taliban) war in Pakistan.
Pakistans co-warrior in afghan war was America, the character of America after the war
is more interesting. American right after the end of war changes its position right opposite to the

newly created Islamic government of mullah Omar because they got an idea that this political
system could melt down their created human suppressing democracy. This was the concrete
reason for current Afghanistan invasion of America.
So by studying the soviet invasion of 1979 to the current American invasion on afghan
soil answers the whole problem of this region.

First Draft of Literature Review

Talbot, Ian (2012). Pakistan: A New History. Columbia, Columbia University Press.
My work basically deals with the American polices toward the region we are living, that
is Afghanistan and Pakistan. This book has given me a basic sense of Pakistani politics and
the involvement or in other words we can say that the influence of American policies over
Pakistan.
It was year 2000 when America and it allied states invaded Afghanistan, gen. Musharraf
agreed to be a part of invasion and NATO was given access to Pakistan airspace to easily
maneuver. After the very two years of invasion a group called TTP emerged from the northwestern agencies of Pakistan and start attacking Pakistani infrastructure. A group of people
from the government, judiciary and the media start presenting that these attacks are the back
fire of participating in afghan war. But let make it clear that on the basis on these sources this
paper is presenting a whole new angle of this war on terror.
Musharraf regime nailed Pakistan to the most catastrophic times Pakistan: A New
History pp. 132, this very single line of Ian Talbot has given me a whole idea of gen. mush.
Regime. Further more he has also given similar concluding remarks on Bhuttos reign.

external security of Pakistan. In the year 2001 he rote his memoir on afghan war, the first
hand information to the secret agendas of the war. While studying a war related thing we
need to fetch almost all the war related documents to help understand the policies of
particular war indulged country. Zaid Hamid book from Indus to Oxus provides the first have
dough tactics of American to wards Afghanistan and Pakistan. This is where the paper take
its flight to climax of War on Terror. As discussed above in the lit. review of first source, the
blame is Pakistan creating the Taliban and now they are firing back to Pakistan as the afghan
war is ended but Zaid Hamid present a whole new image that this paper is going to replicate.

As war on terror started in the name of Islam it was an obligation of this paper to include
the views of a religious scholar here Dr. Israr Ahmed play his role. he has given a bunch of
lecture on War on Terror with a keen eye. His lectures include American policies and the
policies of Israel to ward Pakistan and its neighboring country of Afghanistan. His all work
lies with in the premises of Islam and the Ummah.
While studying the Iraq invasion his lectures are almost the great source as he predicted it
years before on the basis of the flow of American policies. Therefor it was important for this
research paper to include Dr. Israr Ahmed views on War on Terror. His work comprises the
third and the most important part of paper that is the perception building part of research
paper. If his paper could predict Iraq invasion than it is possible that creating a brand new
perception based on his work would work or at least it will help paper creating a clear image
of future scenario.

Zaid Hamid memoir gives the inside view of afghan war of 1979 on the similar page this

interview gives the current situation of Afghanistan and rebellion fight against the US and on of
the guest in this interview in Syed Rehmat-ul-llah Hashmi, Taliban spokesman to America.
He visited America in the negotiation time and conveyed Taliban message to the US
Obama administration. Eventually he failed to draw a ceasefire but this interview worth a lot, in
a way this interview also answer why the negotiation didnt prove to be successful? But more
importantly these pieces of videos help this paper crafting a clear image of afghan Taliban
policies toward the current war of Afghanistan. In short cannons of both sides will remain in a
firing position until the one dies. American is carrying a right policy toward the Taliban and vice
versa.

The geographically distant professor has given a good analytical research in relate to the

global war on terrorism though he seems to be lacking in disclosing the scenario of afghan and
Pakistan region. But the gives a clear and almost vivid image of his country that is the united
states of America. As in the introduction of his paper he has written a statement of US president
George W. Bush, every nation, in every region, now has to decision to make. Either you are

this was the same question that was asked by gen. Mush. In his regime and hence forcibly
Pakistan had to step into the bloody war on terrorism which has cost almost 50 thousands
innocent life.
