ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rainiers and Bees, tied

2-2 in the middle of the fifth inning, suspended last
nights game due to rain. The game will continue
today at 3:35 p.m. PDT with Alex Yarborough at bat
to begin the bottom of the fifth inning. The game
is scheduled to be played the regular nine innings.
Todays regularly scheduled game will begin 30
minutes following the conclusion of yesterdays
suspended game and will last seven innings.
TONIGHTS STARTERS: The Rainiers send Sam
Gaviglio to the mound to make his sixth start of
the season. Gaviglio has not made an appearance
against Salt Lake in his career. He is 1-1 on the road
this year with a 3.18 ERA (6ERx17.0IP). Gaviglio
has held right-handed batters to just a .140 (7x50)
batting average this year, compared to the .326
(15x46) batting average left-handed hitters have
managed. His .229 opponent batting average is the
fith best mark in the PCL. He has also kept batters
to a .105 (4x38) average when ahead in the count,
while opposing hitters have gone .364 (12x33) when
they get ahead of Gaviglio.
Salt Lake starting pitcher Zach Stewart is making
his seventh appearance (third start) for the Bees
this year, and has faced Tacoma once in his career.
Is his two starts this year, Stewart has an 0-2 record
and an 8.31 ERA (8ERx8.2IP). His lone outing
against the Rainiers was on May 4, in the opening
game of the series, when he tossed 1.1 innings of
relief, allowing only one base runner on a hit by
pitch.
GETTING ON: Outfielder Franklin Gutierrezs .446
on base percentage is the third best mark in the
Pacific Coast League. In addition to his .308 (20x65)
batting average, Gutierrez has drawn a teamleading 14 walks this year, accounting for nearly
18% of the teams total walks while being twice as
many as the next closest players.
RAINY DAY: The Rainers played in 16 seven-inning
games in 2014, going 7-9 in those contests while
being outscored 65-73. Additionally, Tacoma played
in two games that were suspended last year, going
1-1 in those games.
PEN IS MIGHTIER: The Tacoma bullpen has
allowed only eight runs (seven earned) through
43.1 innings pitched since April 22. During that
span they have limited opposing batters to a .205
(33x161) batting average and have posted a 1.52
ERA. The bullpen has lowered their ERA from 3.91
(22ERx50.2IP) to 2.78 (29ERx94.0IP) in that time
frame.

SEND EM PACKING: The Rainiers pitching staff

has allowed an opponent batting average of just
.236 (205x868), the third lowest mark in the PCL.
Over the last six games, in which Tacoma has gone
5-1, opponents have hit only .197 (39x198).
SEND IT: Tacoma batters have hit out 24 home
runs this year, the third highest total in the Pacific
Coast League. 15 have been solo shots, five have
been two-run bombs, and four have been three-run
dingers. 34 of the Rainiers 134 runs this year, or
27.6%, have come via home run.
GOING STREAKING: Infielder Ketel Marte extended
his hitting streak to 12 games by collecting two hits
last night against Salt Lake before the game was
suspended. His 12-game streak is the longest on
the team this season and tied for the longest active
streak in the PCL. He his now hitting .400 (20x50)
with seven runs, three doubles, and five RBI during
that stretch - his .400 average is the third best mark
in the league since April 24. He is one game short
of trying last seasons club-high hitting streak of
13 games, recorded by Stefen Romero between
August 7-20. Marte has notched six hitting streaks
in his career of 10 or more games, including a
career-high 14 games between June 7-26 of 2013.
Marte is also the only Tacoma player, and one of
only four players in the league, to have played in
each of his clubs first 27 games this year.
ERROR IT OUT: Rainiers fielders have committed
26 errors in 26 games this year, giving them a .974
fielding percentage, the second worst mark in the
league. Last year Tacoma committed 122 errors in
144 games, leading to a .977 fielding percentage,
which was the fourth worst mark in the PCL.
Rainiers shortstops lead the team with eight errors.
SEEKING 4,000: The Rainiers need five victories
to record 4,000 all-time franchise wins. Since 1960,
Tacoma has put together a record of 3,995-3,973
(.501). The Rainiers record as an affiliate of the
Seattle Mariners is 1,472-1,415 (.510). The Rainiers
have the third most all-time PCL franchise wins,
behind only Sacramento and Salt Lake.
