Testimonial or character certificate for a student
To whom it may concern
This is to certify that Ruhi Nahata , a graduate of English and International Re lations at the New Wings International College, Kolkata, has been my student for the past four years and it has been my privilege to guide her as a lecturer of English Language and Literature. She has been a very lively presence within and without the classroom and has con tributed immensely to the culture of studies and co-curricular activities, parti cularly theatre and martial arts; it is significant to note here that co-curricu lar activities are considered to be a very important part of the development of one s personality and this child, rather young lady, has adapted to this mantra ex ceptionally well and has adapted to this culture as a fish takes to water. She a sks interesting questions to add meaning to the lectures and Group Discussions a nd gives even more interesting answers. She is spontaneous, effervescent , intel ligent but not over-confident. In fact, I have seen her questioning her own perc eptions regarding her answers and sometimes being insecure about her own chances of success; the very next day, however, her erstwhile diffidence would change i nto confidence and she would bounce back to action and excel. She is in good company in her family. I have had the pleasure of guiding her bro ther Rohan Nahata for a year before he left India for pursuing computer engineer ing at an Ivy League Institution; he was as filled with joie-de-vivre as she is and had the same contradiction of diffidence momentarily overwhelming him before he could bounce back with rare chutzpah! Interacting with her parents has been a pleasure during the Guardian Seminars in the college. She has a rich culture of learning in the family. She is also a very keen student of martial arts and she gets a real kick out of the fights within the ring. There are exceptions of course. Once, a few uncivil outsiders tried to act smart with the girls within the college campus. Ruhi conf ronted them. They never came back. She along with some boys once rushed two inju red girls to the hospital from a picnic spot. She sat on the window of the not too spacious jeep to support the injured girls during the 30 km journey back the ci ty. She intends to pursue literature and theare at the post graduate level in a pres itigious American College to give herself international exposure. As a teacher , I wish her all the best. I have not the slightest doubt that with her rare devo tion to the culture of learning and growth , she shall be an asset to the best c olleges in the US when it comes to constructive contribution within and without the classroom.
