Internship Programme

Library Internships Programme is designed for library and information science students
who want to gain experience in librarianship or information science in a regional intergovernmental organisation. Under the supervision of librarian, interns will be given an
overview of reference services, technical services, collection development, library
management, database management or any other special project.
Objective
The Purposes of the CIRDAP Aziz ul Haq Library (CAL) Internship Programme are:
To give the interns the opportunity to gain an understanding of the nature of library
and information management business in the library of an organization with an
international network.
To learn new skills and gain practical work experience
To enhance the chances of interns in gaining employment nationally or
internationally
To pave way for advanced studies
Criteria for Selection
The following criteria will be used to determine eligibility for the Internship programme.
Applicants should:
have completed a Masters degree in library and information science
not be more than 28 years of age
Have a good knowledge in Microsoft word, Excle,Powepont
Knowledge about library software D-Space,Koha and other related Library Software

preferable ,but not necessary


have a very good command of English
Duration
The duration of the internship will be Six months. (In exceptional cases, it may be
extended).
Procedure for Application
Applicants who are interested in doing an internship will submit the following
documentation:

a covering letter stating the reason for applying to the internship programme,
indicating the benefits which are expected to be derived from the internship and
career goals;
a brief curriculum vitae
a duly completed and signed internship application form (enclosure 1)

Office Facilities
Interns will be provided office space and facilities as appropriate for their work.
Conditions of Internship

Interns will be assigned to work with a supervisor who will be responsible for
providing them with a description of duties and a work plan. Upon completion of the
internship, intern will be required to complete a final report describing what was
achieved during the internship.

Interns will not be considered officials or staff members of the organization.

Interns will be paid Monthly convene bill Tk.4000 for the cost of travel of the
interns.

Interns will be expected to work full -time and to carry out the duties assigned to
them.

Interns should be punctual in attendance and disciplined

Internship can be terminated at the discretion of the organization at any time.

Certificate
Upon successful completion of the internship, intern will receive a certificate from the
Director General of CIRDAP. This certificate will state the period of internship, main

allocated tasks and an evaluation the intern's performance.
