The goals of nonviolent action
According to Martin Luther King Jr. (1963), nonviolent action seeks to d
ramatize the issue (of injustice) to put pressure on the adversary to confront t
he issue.
Additionally, nonviolent direct action seeks to create a situation that
would liberate victims from silence and helplessness. Nonviolent direct action a
lso seeks to gain attention, and consequently, support from the larger community
.
The steps in doing nonviolent direct action
The initial step is to collect that to ascertain that injustice exists.
The second step is to raise consciousness of people about the issue.
The third step is to organize constituents and build coalitions.
