36 Vayadhinile (English: At the age of thirty six) is an Indian Tamil comedy drama film

directed by Rosshan Andrrews, written by Bobby Sanjayand produced by Suriya under his
production studio 2D Entertainment. It is an official remake of the Malayalam film How Old
Are You (2014), the film features Jyothika in the leading role, while Rahman essays a
supporting role. It marked the comeback of one of the most celebrated actresses in Tamil
cinema, Jyothika, and her performance has been the highlight of positive critical reviews.

Production[edit]
In August 2014, it was announced that actress Jyothika would make a comeback to acting
after a seven-year sabbatical by featuring in the Tamil remake of Rosshan Andrrews's
Malayalam film How Old Are You (2014), which featured Manju Warrier in the leading role.
Jyothika's husbandSuriya agreed to produce the venture under his production banner 2D
Entertainment, while director and writer Rosshan Andrrews and Bobby Sanjay were
retained from the original version.[2] Suriya revealed that Jyothika and he were impressed
by the Malayalam version and Jyothika took two days to agree to make a return as an
actress.[3] Actor Rahman was added to the cast in October 2014, to play the role originally

essayed byKunchacko Boban.[4][5] Music director Santhosh Narayanan was signed on to


compose the film's score and soundtrack.[6]
The shoot of the film began in November 2014 and shoots were planned to take place in
Chennai, Delhi and Rajasthan.[7] The final scene of the film was first shot, with scenes of
Jyothika's character meeting the President, played by Siddharth Basu, at Rashtrapati
Bhavan filmed in New Delhi.[8][9] During the first schedule, actress Abhirami also signed on
to portray a pivotal role, marking a comeback to Tamil films after an eleven-year absence.

Sanjay Bharathi was also offered a small role in the film by producer Suriya, who had

been working with him in another production. Masss (2015).

The film's soundtrack was composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The soundtrack album
features eleven tracks, which includes three songs, fiveinstrumentals from the original
score and three karaoke numbers.[11] The lyrics for the three songs were written by Vivek.
The album was launched at Leela Palace, Chennai on 6 April 2015.[12][13] Two songs,
"Rasathi" and "Happy-Naalu Kazhudha" were performed live by Santhosh at the event,
which was hosted by Dhivyadharshini.[14] Sify gave the album 4 out of 5 stars and wrote,
"Santhosh Narayanan delivers another terrific album adding to the list of his impressive
filmography. 36 Vayadhinile has a good collection of some catchy songs & soothing
background score which is a great attribute to the movie".[15]

Critical reception[edit]
Studio Flicks rated 3.5 out of 5 and wrote " An one wo(man) show from Jo!. How a 36 year
old womans life changes after she get a chance to meet the President of India and What

happens to her familys future is all about 36 Vayathinile".[16] Movie Clickz rated 8.5 out of
10 and wrote "If you want to see a movie with your family, then 36 Vayadhinile is the
perfect choice for you. The movie carries a beautiful message, and it will not make you
disappointed for sure. There is no expiry date for a womans dream ".[17]
