OFFICIALS RULES

Prior to the Game

Make sure each team has signed in and the captain has signed off on his team
All games must start with 3 players on each team, unless a team with three players agrees to
allow the opposing team to play with only two players. No substitutions are allowed once a
team has played its first game of the event.
A coin flip prior to the start of the game will determine which team has the initial possession
THIS IS A MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT -- NO FOUL LANGUAGE, BACK TALKING, AND
ALTERCATIONS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. THE OFFICIAL HAS THE RIGHT TO THROW ANY
PLAYER/FAN OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT IF NEEDED.

Throw In/Start of Play

The ball must be thrown (not dribbled) in from behind the out of bounds line. Cannot run the
baseline or step over the line before the in-bound. A violation will be called and a turnover to
the other team.
Defender must stay a foot behind the out of bounds line. Crossing the line will be a verbal
warning and the second will result in a foul shot.

After the game

THE MASTER SCOREBOARD CONTAINS THE OFFICIAL SCHEDULE FOR THE TOURNAMENT. AFTER
EACH GAME, EACH TEAM MUST CHECK THE MASTER SCOREBOARD FOR FUTURE SCHEDULING
AND INFROMATION.

Game Play

Length of Game: first team to score 15 points, or a time limit of 25 minutes.

Overtime: if the score is tied at the end of 25 minutes, the game goes into sudden death
overtime. A coin flip determines which team has the initial possession.
No make it take it: the ball changes possession after each scored basket.
Jump Balls: all jump balls become the possession of the defensive team.
Time Outs: each team is allowed 1 30-second time-outs per game. The game clock does not stop
during any time-outs. No time outs are permitted in the last 2 minutes of the game.
Taking it back: when in play, the BALL must be taken back on each change of possession. Taking
it back means BOTH feet and ball must be behind the 2-point arc. Failure will result in a turnover
The ball must be checked before the inbound
No dunking
Scoring: Baskets made from inside the arc are one point. Baskets made when the shooter has
BOTH FEET behind the arc count for 2 points. Court officials will monitor the 2 point call if there
is any doubt of a made basket.

Free Throws: Each free-throw is worth 1 point. No free-throws until a team is in the bonus (after
the 7 fouls). Regardless if the free-throws are made, the opposing team checks the ball from the
out of bounds line. The clock will not stop during free-throws.
Personal Fouls: Each team will get 7 fouls. After the 7th foul the opposing team will shoot free
throws. All intentional and or flagrant fouls will be called by the refs and will result in a player
dismissal. The team will receive a free-throw and retain possession.

Tournament Administration

Any questions or disputes will be discussed only with the team spokes personal. Disputes will
not be heard after the game has completed.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS EXPECTED AND REQUIRED BY ALL. UNNECCESSARY VULGARITY OR ABUSIVE

CONDUCT CAN LEAD TO A DISMISSAL AT ANY TIME INCLUDING DURING A GAME. RESULTS COULD LEAD
TO FOUL SHOOTING, TERMINATION OF GAMES, AND OR ESCORTING A PLAYER/FAN OFF THE PREMISES.
ANY PLAYER/FAN THATS ESCORTED WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DURATION OF THE
TOURNAMENT
