Position Description:
Although you will be hired as an overall Grocery Store Clerk, You will be placed in one of the following positions upon arrival to
Shaw's: Service Clerk/Cashier, Deli Clerk ,Bakery Clerk, Produce Clerk,Seafood Clerk, or Grocery Clerk. You may also be asked to
work in any of these departments as needed.
Service Clerk/Cashier
The Service Clerk/ Chashier is responsible for ringing up customer grocery sales using a scanner or manually entering the price into
the cash register. They are also responsible for bagging groceries and answering customer questions. The Service Clerk/Cashier is
responsible for:

* Running a cash register.
*Handling cash, credit cards, checks or other forms of payment.
*Bagging grocery items in paper or plastic bags.
Lift and load bags into shopping carts. Bags may weigh between 5-35 pounds.
*Keeping the Cashier area clean.
Deli Clerk
The Deli Clerk is responsible for taking orders and serving customers at the Deli counter. This includes the use of meat slicers, scales
and other deli equipment. Deli clerks also prepare food including both hot and cold foods as well as cooked and uncooked foods.
People working in this position will be working with cooked and uncooked pork and seafood. If you are not able to work with pork or
seafood, please notify the hiring manager during your interview. The Deli Clerk is responsible for:
* Taking guest orders, preparing orders and delivering orders accross the counter to the customer.
*Operating deli-slicing equipment.
*Preparing food product to be displayed in sale cases.
* Taking verbal orders over the telephone.
* Keeping the Deli area clean.
* Lifting product and cases weighing between 35 - 70 pounds.
Bakery Clerk
The Bakery Clerk is responsible for taking orders and serving customers at the Bakery counter. They are responsible for perparing,
baking and packaging bakery product. Bakery clerks prepare food products including both hot and cold foods.. The Bakery Clerk is
responsible for:
* Taking guest orders, preparing orders and delivering orders accross the counter to the customer.
*Operating Bakery Department equipment including ovens, mixers, slicers, etc.
*Preparing food product to be displayed in sale cases.
* Taking verbal orders over the telephone.
* Keeping the Bakery area clean.
* Lifting product and cases weighing between 5-40 pounds.
Produce Clerk
The Produce Clerk is responsible for assisting and serving customers in the Produce ( fruit and vegetables) Department, including
stocking the produce cases and counters. Produce Clerks do some food preparation including trimming vegetables, cutting fruit,
salad bar preparation, and making fruit baskets. The Produce Clerk is responsible for:
*Answering customer questions and assisting them when needed.
* Working in an enviroment that is sometimes cool and damp, as this area of the store has some refrigerated areas.
*Prepare food product to be displayed in cases ( Salad bar, cut fruit, etc.)
*Taking verbal orders over the telephone.
* Load and unload produce weighing up to 60 pounds.
*Lift cases weighing 5-60 pounds.
*Using a knife to cut fruits and vegetables.
*Visually checking produce and removing fruits and vegetables that are poor quality.
*Keeping the produce area clean.
Seafood Clerk
The Seafood Clerk is responsible for assisting and serving customers at the Seafood Service Counter, including stocking the seafood
case with ice, stocking seafood cases and display areas and fill self-serve cases. Seafood Clerks do some food preparation and work
with cooked and uncooked food products and seafood. The Seafood Clerk is responsible for:
*Answering customer questions and assisting them when needed. Serve customers from behind the Seafood Counter, take orders
and deliver orders across the counter to the customer.
* Cut products with a large knife.
*Prepare food product to be displayed in cases including live shellfish.
*Taking verbal orders over the telephone.
* Load and unload produt weighing up to 30 pounds.

* Work with ice including shoveling, lifting loading, scooping and spreading ice.
*Lift cases weighing 5-30 pounds.
*Keeping the Seafood area clean.
Grocery Clerk
The Grocery Clerk is responsible for assisting and serving customers in the Grocery Department, including stocking the grocery
shelves, Health and Beauty Care items, Dairy and Frozen Food cases as well as other items in the store. Grocery clerks also unload
truck deliveries The Grocery Clerk is responsible for:
*Answering customer questions and assisting them when needed.
*Load and unload product weighing up to 60 pounds.
*Lift cases weighing 5-60 pounds.
*Open boxes and other containers and unpack product.
*Stock shelves, freezers and refrigerators on a regular basis.
*Break down boxes ( flatten) and take to storage area.
*Assist in keeping the store clean.
Shaw's has a union, which all part-time and full-time employees must join. Please see pay notes for information on union dues.
Second Jobs
It is possible for participants to obtain a second job, but the second job must not interfere with the schedule for your job at Shaw's.
Intrax participants are not permitted to work a second job without first receiving approval from Intrax

Exact duties will be determined by the position you are placed in upon arrival. All positions will require:

A uniform shirt will be provided by the employer. Employees must provide their own black pants. No Short, jeans, exercise pants or
yoga pants permitted.
