1.

EXT. DEIMOS, VRONTADOS CITY OUTSKIRTS DUSK

Sunset sky above Vrontados. Sun is passing behind a large

planetoid in the sky, casting a striking glow on
everything. SILENCE. Clouds are dense and crimson. Very
dry and dusty.
Low RUMBLING begins from far-off, causing a leafless tree
to sway. Rumbling becomes louder and shadow appears behind
clouds. Clouds part to reveal massive grotesque spaceship
rippling with lighting discharged from the clouds. Ship is
visibly damaged and descending slowly. A tiny escape pod
comes into view traveling faster than the spaceship,
visible only from its vapour trail.
The sound of speeding jet bikes approaches, whipping up
dust. A bikes jagged silhouette zooms by right overhead.

INT. ESCAPE POD, ABOVE VRONTADOS - DUSK

L CUT FADE IN
Cramped lifeboat with several Dark Eldar standing visibly uncomfortable. Craft is missing several panels;
clouds are visible through the gaping holes. Heavy wind
and violent shaking.
(Eldar dialogue is spoken in the Eldar
language)
SERGIUS
(panicked)
Mistress, this craft is damaged!
Octavia tilts her head towards Sergius and sneers.
OCTAVIA
Yes, thank you for that perceptive
insight. If we should crash, be so
good as to point that out as well. How
far can we fly?
JULIANA
Our Wyches have dispatched a squadron
to escort us. I have relayed our
flight plan; we should manage to reach
the rendezvous.
Tiberius, the only Eldar not nursing a wound, sits
inattentively, examining a clear vial in his hands. In the
vial floats a thick alien tendril. The vial seems to have
a much greater weight than it looks.

JULIANA (CONT)
(to Tiberius)
So this is the device these mon-keigh
use to constrain their minions
Octavia pushes through the ship and grasps the vial in
Tiberius hands. Tiberius hesitates, and then hands it to
the Succubus.
OCTAVIA
(shaking vial gently)
It is a vestige of the Great Devourer,
curious that the Inquisitor meat is
aiding them.
Felix looks up from sharpening his blades and smiles.

INT. WARPED FAITH DUSK

POV - FADE FROM BLACK TO EYES BLINKING

Klaxons are BLARING and lights are flickering. Starting
quiet and getting loud as character regains consciousness.
There is a voice speaking over the PA, but words cannot
yet be made out. Character is lying on the floor and
everything appears blurry. He faces the walls of the
damaged room that he lies in. Several bodies lie slouched
against the wall.
4.

INT. WARPED FAITH DUSK

Weyland props himself up on an arm and looks around,

clearly confused. His fallen troops lie unconscious around
him. There is evidence of a recent firefight, with some
flames burning nearby.
As Weylands mind clears he begins to read the signs and
notices on the wall, trying to find indication of where he
is. A notice board is plastered with cultist propaganda.
Weyland pats himself down anxiously and is relived to find
his vox-caster.

4.
WEYLAND
(into radio)
Come in Ascension. This is Inquisitor
Weyland.
Loud static is all that is heard on the radio. Weyland
turns the radio off and back on. Still static. He looks up
at the posters, disheartened.
WEYLAND (CONTD)
(speaking quickly, desperate)
Do you read? Ascension, if you can
hear me, Ive been captured by the
cultists. I am being held on one of
their ships. The ship is going down.
I have my squad. I dont know where we
are.
(straining to clear memory)
I dont know how we got here I
boarded the ship. There were Steel
Legion and Eldar. We fought them. I
was told to the Patriarch told us to.
I
Weyland stammers briefly and then stops transmitting on
his vox-comm, letting his arm drop to his side.
WEYLAND (CONTD)
(to himself)
Ive been corrupted.
Weyland takes several deep breaths before closing his
eyes. He begins to meditate.
FORM CUT ON WEYLAND
(flashback)
5.

EXT. VRONTADOS CITY LIMITS DAY

Weyland and a small retinue stand before the walls of

Vrontados facing the detachment of Steel Legion that they
were sent to meet.
Tensions are high and retinues from both sides have guns
raised and trained on the other.
KYROS
(hand on sword, lowering skull mask)
Turn around Inquisitor. Go back to
your ship. We should not have called
you here.

5.
Weyland, calm and authoritative, turns and whispers to his
Storm Trooper sergeant before taking a few steps forward;
towards Kyros assistant cadet. The cadet has raised his
laspistol and has it shakily pointed at Weyland.
KYROS (CONTD)
STEP BACK. I will not hesitate to
shoot you creeps.
Weyland ignores the threat and comes to face the cadet.
WEYLAND
(to Kyros, facing cadet)
Youre not in a position to threaten
the Inquisition, Commander. I dont
believe you understand
Weyland places his hand on the cadets laspistol, lowering
it.
WEYLAND (CONTD)
Ive requisitioned your army.
Your uniforms, your tanks, your
equipment, your GUNS
(quickly pries the laspistol from the
cadets hand)
Are mine.
Weyland SHOOTS the cadet in the gut, causing him to cry
out and stumble backwards. Weylands Storm Troopers OPEN
FIRE. The inquisitor turns and walks back behind his
lines.
WEYLAND
(shouting above the firefight)
Heretics. DESERTERS. You are not
worthy of the Imperiums gifts!
Kyros retreats with his command squad, carrying the
injured cadet. His infantry platoon stays to cover the
retreat. Weyland smiles.
Doors in the city walls GRIND open and dozens more Steel
Legion pour out.
Weyland turns to see this and take a few uneasy steps back
before composing himself.
WEYLAND (CONTD)
Form up and advance! If they wish to
fight the inquisition, they shall only
face death!

6.
Storm troopers line up next to Weyland and raise their
Hellguns to take aim.

EXT./INT. VRONTADOS CITY LIMITS DAY

Weyland and several Storm Troopers walk cautiously through

the scene of an earlier firefight. The battle continues as
shots are heard occasionally in the distance.
PEVENSEY
(quietly)
These insurgents are resilient.
WEYLAND
Of course they are. Theyre Steel
Legion.
PEVENSEY
(turning to Weyland)
We should return with greater numbers.
WEYLAND
Nonsense. We are nearly victorious. We
cannot allow them to regroup.
Theyve stopped in the charred husk of an old
manufactorium. Two sides of the building, the corner they
came in through, are completely collapsed. The two
remaining walls are precarious and dusty. Several upper
floors have collapsed down to the ground. The interior has
been exposed to the elements and the floor is entirely
rubble. Weyland pulls out his auspex. He consults the tiny
LCD screen briefly.
WEYLAND
(motioning towards far side of the
building)
They hide somewhere beyond that wall.
Pevensey nods at Ogden and Tucker and they shuffle forward
towards a narrow door in the wall, checking the corners
and ground for traps or ambushes. Ruined upper floors hang
down above the door, casting a shadow along the wall.
Ogden raises his fist and they both stop. Ogden aims his
Hellgun and shoots a package at the base of the door. It
EXPLODES with a bright flash and Tucker shields his face.
Ogden nods at Tucker and they continue to the door.
Once they reach the door they turn and signal back.
Weyland and the rest of the troopers move up. They line up

at either side of the door, the inquisitor standing
nearest the doorframe with shoulder to the wall and
Inferno pistol drawn.
MERTEN
(quietly, to Weyland)
They will know were here.
Merten raises his boot and places it on the door. He is
watching Weyland; awaiting his signal.
WEYLAND
(taking in breath)
For the Emperor.
Merten pushes the door open with his boot before quickly
spinning out of the way, hugging the wall with the rest of
the squad. Light pours in to the shaded ruin and LASFIRE
fills the doorway.
The squad hugs the wall, momentarily uncertain of what to
do.
PEVENSEY
(shouting across the doorway)
We cannot advance here! Keep them
interested, we will go around.
MERTEN
No, they are not far!
Grenades?
Pevensey, Tucker, and Ogden signal nothing.
Weyland LIGHTS his pistol and shoots a few spouts of flame
into the ground.
WEYLAND
Inferno! I shall flush them oA rocket or grenade flies though the door and EXPLODES
brilliantly on the ground, sending Weyland and his troops
careening back.

Blackness. Residual ringing from rocket blast is
deafening.

UNKNOWN MAN 1
Ha! Looks like the Legion had a
squabble with their reinforcements.
Frakking ninkers, serves them right.
UNKNOWN MAN 2
One less threat to worry about.
UNKNOWN MAN 3
Bring them to the Patriarch.
UNKNOWN MAN 1
Which ones?
UNKNOWN MAN 3
All of them.
(voice approaches)
Careful with this one. He seems more
powerful than the others.
Footsteps approach and Weyland is lifted and carried a
short distance to an idling vehicle. The door SLAMS
closed.

POV
Heartbeat. Labored breathing. Viewer is submerged in murky
water; a hallucination. Red translucent tendrils border
the edge of vision. Muffled alien SCREECHES and SCREAMS
are heard mixed with some human murmuring. Heart rate
increases. The screen blurs and PULSES red with the words
from a uniquely alien source.
PATRIATCH (V.O.)
Welcome, Weyland, to the Brood.
As the last word is spoken the screen begins to shake

INT. WARPED FAITH DUSK

Weylands eyes shoot open and he takes a sharp breath. He

is still standing by the notice board, vox in hand. He
steadies himself against the wall and wipes some sweat
from his brow.

9.
FULK
(over the PA)
This is Captain Fulk. Any remaining
crew is to withdraw to the nearest
lifeboat and evacuate the ship. In
five minutes this ship and anyone left
aboard will be considered hostile by
ground forces. May the Eternal
Intellect guide you.
Weyland checks his equipment and looks to an unconscious
Pevensey on the ground. Weyland glances around the room
and runs over to a dropped med-kit. He pries open the lid
and pulls out some bandages and a syringe. He looks at the
syringe and then at Pevensey, unsure if Pevensey can be
trusted.

EXT. VRONTADOS CITY OUTSKIRTS DUSK

Three Eldar jet-bikes SPEED over a dry, rocky plain. Its

Eldar pilots scan the landscape. Behind the squadron, to
the west, Warped Faith still hangs in the sky, burning.
One Eldar raises a hand and points to a plume of smoke
behind a hill and the squadron turns in that direction.
The jet bikes arrive at the landing site and they abruptly
slow and turn to circle the area. Several Dark Eldar
stand, impatient, at the LZ. The Eldar on the bikes
dismount smoothly off the circling machines and walk
towards the waiting group.
EMILE
(approaching Octavia)
I am amazed this escape casket got you
so far, Mistress.
LUCILLA
It would have lasted further had we
not been hit. The mon-keigh are
shooting down their own ship.
OCTAVIA
That monstrosity is scarcely worth the
shells. Let them squabble. They will
be hunting us as well. We must bring
this tendril back to the lair.
The Eldar begin to move back west, towards where the jet
bikes came from.

10.
EMILE
(looking towards Warped Faith)
We must make haste. Or we will have
fire raining upon us.
The bikes turn to face Warped Faith. The ship continues to
burn as the planet behind it continues to rise, obscuring
the sun almost entirely.

OGDEN
(interrupting)
Sir, the system shows there are no
life pods left on the ship. The
blasted Eldar took the last one.
PEVENSEY
Check the manifest. ONE of these
crates must hold something to get us
off this ship.
Ogden rushes back to the flickering console and hurriedly
accesses the information.
WEYLAND
(to Pevensey)
Remind me, Sergeant. Those Eldar, why
were they on the our ship?
PEVENSEY
The power tendril, sir. They stole a
vial containing a power tendril.
WEYLAND
Right.
(pauses)
We need to retrieve that tendril.
PEVENSEY
Sir? We need to return to the
Patriarch. Our brood brothers will
take care of the Eldar later.

11.
WEYLAND
(authoritative)
No. First we must get off this ship.
But WE must also find the Eldar. Now.
We have failed the Patriarch and we
must amend. Those Wyches have taken
something from us, and I intend to get
it back.
PEVENSEY
Yes Inquisitor.
OGDEN
Sir! There is a shipment of stolen
Elysian equipment in the armoury.
There are grav-chutes.
Weyland smiles and runs his fingers over an Aquila totem
on his belt.
12.

EXT. VRONTADOS CITY OUTSKIRTS TWILIGHT

Dark Eldar march quickly across the plains, blending

invisibly into the night. The only light comes from the
glowing halo around the planetoid, now completely
obscuring the sun, and the burning ship almost right
overhead. The three bikers bring up the rear of the line.
MARINA
(raising her fist)
Stop.
The Eldar come to a stop with Warped Faith looming right
in front of them.
The other Eldar look at Marina, quizzically. The bikers
dismount and step forward.
Marina points at Warped Faith.
Several moments of silence pass, Eldar silhouetted by the
fire in the sky.
A great RUMBLE builds up from deep inside the burning
ship. Small explosions can be seen on the surface as
entire bulkheads break off. Rocket engines, now freed of
their doomed burden, shoot off in various directions and
spiral out of control.
As the rumbling builds, the spaceship begins to split
apart in a great fireball. A deafening ROAR rings off the
cliffs, causing distant rockslides. Debris begins to rain
down in front of the Eldar who watch with twisted elation.

12.
Emile stiffens suddenly and falls over, smoke coming out
of the top of his helmet. Las-shots pepper the ground. The
Eldar jump back and look up.
13.

EXT. VRONTADOS CITY OUTSKIRTS TWILIGHT

Weyland and his retinue free-fall headfirst towards the

ground as Warped Faith EXPLODES behind them. He has his
auspex out and is pointing at the Eldar on the ground. The
Storm Troopers open fire on the Eldar from above, but it
is far too dark to make out any targets.
The SHOCKWAVE reaches the falling humans and they roll
momentarily. Dust and flames lick their armour. One by one
they stabilise themselves with their grav-chutes,
descending vertically, slower, now.
WEYLAND
(addressing Octavia)
WYCH! You cannot run from me!
They land together, kicking up a dust cloud as the massive
remains of the spaceship CRASH into the mountains behind
them. The planet shakes with the impact.
The humans stand no more than 60 metres from the Dark
Eldar.
Octavia smiles and licks her lips.
OCTAVIA
(speaking in unsettling high-gothic)
I have no intention to run, human.
Strangely, the shaking from the crash hasnt
subsided. A spot on the ground underneath the
Eldar begins to glow green and the shaking
intensifies. The Eldar take several steps back.
LUCILLA
(breathless)
Necrons
The glowing INTENSIFIES until the ground around the glow
BUCKLES and SHATTERS. Two Eldar are consumed by the
rippling rock. A green light shines out from below the
surface.
The remaining Eldar gather at the far side of the crater.
JULIANA
It is the awakening.
