STOP SLANDERING ABOUT

UTILIZATION OF MY MPLAD FUND
Some television channels and social media are spreading false news that I have not utilized funds allocated
for me under MPLAD scheme (Member of Parliament Local Area Development scheme) and returned
them. These are pre-planned designs to malign my image by forces that could not face me politically since
my announcement as the Chief Ministerial candidate of Pattali Makkal Katchi.
Every year Rs. 5 crores is allocated to each Member of Parliament under MPLAD. Of this Rs. 10 lakh is
earmarked for administrative expenses and the remaining Rs. 490 lakhs are spent by the district
administration for works recommended by the Member of Parliament. As per these guidelines Rs. 5.00
crore is allocated to Dharmapuri Parliamentary constituency for the financial year 2014-15. I have
recommended works for Rs. 5.13 crores (Rs. 23 lakhs above) to the district rural development agency
(DRDA) Dharmapuri, for executing 299 works. Of this 193 works estimated at Rs. 3.30 crores were sanctioned
in Dharmapuri district and 36 works worth Rs. 67.24 crores were sanctioned for Mettur assembly constituency
in Salem district. Majority of these works are under progress and many are nearing completion. 67 works
estimated at Rs. 93.166 lakhs recommended by me to the DRDA are awaiting administrative sanction. Once
these were given administrative sanction by the district collector these works also will commence. Hence
of the 299 works proposed by me 296 works at an estimate of Rs. 4.90 crores are going to be commissioned.
The remaining works will be taken up in the current fiscal (2015-16). I have attached a signed copy of the
statement from Dharmapuri DRDA with these details.
This being the fact, it is unfair on the part of certain television channels and social media activists to
propagate false news on the basis of a non-updated data from a website. It is only media ethics to publish
a news after verifying its authenticity from those concerned. I am ready to clarify anything at any time if I
am contacted. If somebody is not happy to contact me they can get information from my constituency
office at Dharmapuri or from the office of the District Collector, Dharmapuri. If even that is difficult, details
of MPLAD are available in the Tamil Nadu government website www.tnrd.gov.in. It is a sorry state of affairs
that the media had yielded to political pressure ignoring all these available channels for information.
Some MPs from Tamil Nadu have allocated their entire fund for a couple of big schemes. I did not do that.
Instead I have studied the needs of various parts of my constituency and allocated funds for schemes that
would directly benefit the poor. Those who were not able to face politically are spreading false rumours

hiding all these facts. I promised the people of Dharmapuri constituency that I will work to develop this
most backward region. I am carefully treading in this direction only. I am determined to bring many
important irrigation projects, the Dharmapuri Morappur rail link, SIPCOT industrial estate to provide job
opportunities and many other welfare schemes. I have approached the central and state governments to
fund these schemes. Numerous schemes worth another Rs. 5000 crores are required to develop this district.
I have envisaged many schemes and is fighting to get funds for execution. I beg everyone not to scuttle
these efforts.
Forces that do not have the courage to debate the past 50 years of misrule in Tamil Nadu are spreading
these false news. I am ready to debate the use of MPLAD in Dharmapuri district in any forum. If anyone
wishes to check personally I am happy to take them to Dharmapuri constituency at my expense and explain
the works in progress.
