Practical Publicityship!
Nathan Theunis
This week, the motto was Your
People, Your Campus, Your
SCO as the Publicity Team
made its way around three
CPUT facilities to publically inform people about our branch.
The first leg kicked off on Monday, May 26, 2015 at CPUT
Main Campus and saw at
least 95 new faces pose for the
camera. The team which innovatively decided to use a physical Facebook photo-frame,
making its way through each
faculty, including the Admin
Building, in seek
of representing
the hearts and
souls of our campus on its Facebook page. As
a launch of the
first ever Publicity
Week, the team
later celebrated
its success with a
cup of coffee.

mostly praise and worship, this
kind of service is needed once
in a while as we get to encounter the Holy Spirit in a different
way, as Psalm 95:6 says, oh

On
Saturday March 6,
2015, our branch took to Glen
Beach and Camps Bay for its
first ever Amazing Race. Traditionally known as the Annual
SCO Family Outing, the Projects
Team this year decided upon
making bolder, more creative
decisions by branding and designing this years branch excursion as an adventurous, beach
challenge, in which four teams
participated, each representing the colours: Green, Blue,
Red and Yellow.
Members arrived and were divided into various teams whereby a war-cry was required by
each team before the games
proceedings. Fruits and water
were
provided as supplements.
Rozina-Ann
Schroeder,
amongst five others, benefited
from a raffle held by the Projects
Team at the previous nights
service. She mentions her first
experience at the SCO outing
as an experience that made
her feel more welcomed. I
built friendships that day and
learned a lot about team building and communication.
Upon completion of the race,
her team, the Green team,
was awarded as the winning
team, leaving a gap between
the second-placed, Red team
and Yellow team which finished
third, whilst the Blue Team forfeited after moving off trail. Her
only comment in terms of victory was that respect is vital, [especially] when you try to overcome any obstacle with[in] a
group.
The day concluded with a
braai, this following a seated
session of introspection and reflection upon the days events.
Ive learned that two is better
than one cause there are things
you cannot accomplish on your
own and that our uniqueness
makes us beautiful according
to Spiritual Growth Coordinator,
Asandiswa Nkonyeni.
