    ofJacetellinginvestigatorswhathenotonlywitnessedhisownfather
    doingtoMasonbutalsohowhewasthreatenedtokeepquiet.Thejurors
    mightnothavegottentheabilitytoseethishorrificevidence,butJace
    mustrememberthisfortherestofhislife.Hisowndaddyabusedand
    murderedhisownfriend,someonehehadgrowntolove.Younotonly
    changedthelivesclosesttothistragedybutyouhavealsoforever
    changedthe14jurorswhosatdayafterdaylearningofthetortureMason
    hadendured.Butlastlyyouhaveshakenthewholecommunityforwhat
    youhavedone.

    JudgeHolcombinatrialfora2yroldsmurderhadsaid

    "Asacommunitywehavetodosomedeepsoulsearchingabouthowor
    ifwewouldhaverespondedsooner.Mighttherehavebeenan
    interventionthatcouldhavesavedthischild'slife."

    ThisJudge'swordsremaininstilledinmythoughtsdaily.Therearemany
    peoplethatcouldhavechangedtheoutcome,myselfincluded.Ihave
    constantremindersofthingsIcouldhavedonedifferently.Itrustedyou
    withmychildrenandbelievedyourmountainofexcusesandlies.Forthat
    Iamentirelyatfaultfor.InthemonthsfollowingthemurderofmysonI
    havebeendiagnosedwithposttraumaticstressdisorder.Ihave
    nightmaresandvisionsofwhatMasonwasputthrough,andalso
    flashbacksofthedaysleadinguptohisdemise.Inowhavetheconstant
    reminderofmysonsaying"nobuhbyes,nobuhbyes"whichnowIknow
    thepainfulreasoningforhiscries.YouhavenotonlytakenMasonfrom
    me,youhavetakenthefirstyearsofJaxon'slifefrommeaswell.

    Youhaveruinedsomanylives,torefamiliesapartandtakensomuch
    fromsomanydifferentpeople.Masonwillnevergetachancetostart

    preschool,graduate,getmarried,norenjoygrowingupalongsidehis
    youngerbrother.Wewillnevergettoenjoyholidayswithhim,neverhear
    orseehiscontagiouslaughterorsmile.Nothing.Youtookthatfromhim,
    andyoutookthatawayfromus.Youtookalifetimeofmemories,a
    lifetimeofhappiness.

    Iaskthecourttoreflectontheword"TORTURE"whenconsideringyour
    sentence,becausethatiswhatyouputMasonthrough,torture.Iaskthat
    youbeputawaythemaxsentencepossible,knowinganysentencewould
    notbeenoughforwhatyouhavedone.Youtookthelifeofabright,
    beautiful,fulloflifechild,thathadtheabilitytolightupanyroom.You
    tookMYchild.MasonisthebravestandstrongestpersonIwilleverknow.
    HewasaMANattheyoungageoftwoyearsold,andthatissomething
    youwillneverbe,Kenny.YouareacowardandIhopeeverydayisa
    constantreminderofwhatyouhavedone.IwishyouthepainthatMason
    enduredandthenightmareyouhaveleftusalltolive.Althoughyouwill
    nevercarewhatIhavetosay.Yourtattoosaysitbest,"OnlyGodcan
    Judgeme"Icanassureyou,GodISjudgingyou.

    Masontodaywillreceivehisjustice,butnothingcanbringhimback.
