ROLE

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Business Need
(Purpose of this role as it relates directly to VPS Objectives)
Responsible for the efficient, safe and profitable operation of the offshore Installation/FPSO. Contributing to the
business objectives of VPS by meeting all local objectives agreed to by the MD of VPS

Specific Accountabilities
(Results this role is expected to accomplish)
Reporting to the MD- VPS, accountabilities include:

Ensure Facility/s are fully manned in accordance with all regulations and procedures are in place
for recruiting, training and record keeping.

Develop with the MD business objectives which flow through the organization via measured action
plans

Prepare annual plans that outline profit objectives to be achieved and a supporting budget
covering all expected revenues, costs and investments.

Submit monthly reports to management on the activities of the facility/s together with supporting
documentation

Ensure Facility maintained and operated to VPS standards and to the satisfaction of the
client/customer

Initiate continuous cost analysis to ensure cost effective operation and monitor completion of
agreed action plans

Develops and implements specific programs to identify worthwhile profit improvements including
setting achievable improvement goals

Ensure appropriate emergency response plans and processes are in place

Ensure suitable remuneration packages are in place for all employees to maintain a high standard
of staff

Develops career paths for employees including training to ensure sufficient depth to meet future
staff needs

Organize the department to effectively manage daily operations including planning to ensure
operational support is highly affective.

Prepare and maintain job descriptions for all staff reporting to you

Ensuring all activities are conducted in a manner, which is safe and is in line with all company
health and safety standards.

Participate in training courses as required

Recommend improvements and cost saving initiatives within the area of responsibility

Perform all tasks in line with the management system.

Participate and be available for urgent or emergency requirements outside of normal working
hours

Ensure internal and external communication is conducted in a correct and business-like manner

Minimum Competencies
(Skills required to accomplish this role effectively)

Minimum of 20 years relevant Industrial experience, at least ten of which should be Oil and Gas
specific.

Previous experience within the hydrocarbons industry and FPSOs is required, with a working
knowledge of hydrocarbon operations, safety systems and permit to work procedures essential.

Leadership and teamwork skills/behaviors, which support team, based organization.

Ability to understand and react with diverse groups in all situations.

Installation specific knowledge required to support the emergency response and safety
management competencies.

Comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of oil and gas development/production


activities.

Leadership skills specific to emergency response situations.

Leadership skills in the application of the Safety Management Systems.

Leadership and teamwork skills/behaviors, which support EOCP organizations.

Business management skills.

Understanding of Malaysian culture and application of quality processes.

Proficient in English both oral and written.

Effective communication skills (oral, written, and computer)
