Throwback for the Future

For the past years that Ive been in this university, I happen to notice some
things that were changed and are continuously changing. There are improvements.
There are also innovations. Now that Im on my fifth and last year in college, I would
like to serve my readers these changes. Even if its Thursday or not, this will be
another version of throwback.
Let me take a look back when I was in my first year college. It is quite
overwhelming that a taller building is being pursued. Nevertheless, this marked the
beginning of progress within this project. Today, when LSPU opens its gates, there is
quite a nice view of paramount rooms and structures. This makes the place more of
a university-like scene.
It was also in my first year when I became a part of the student publication. I
became a junior writer back then. This furthered me to be more aware about school
matters. On my second year, the university library upgrades with computer units.
The library card is not just a passage for books but also, an access to the
mainframes.
As I transformed my uniform into the gray-and-black one, I also experienced
how the institution leveled up. The study tables are not just doubled but, tripled in
its amount. The school canteen widened its range with its counterparts on different
corners. The circulation of classrooms being modified into two-storey buildings can
also be seen. Moreover, the LSPU extension system launched its development and
was used as a venue for the Intercampus Sportsfest last 2013. With Dr. Nestor M. De
Vera as the president, his unique trademark paved way the bigger and brighter
university library. As a campus journalist, knowing these tracks became a real job
for me.
It is undeniable that this school was dawned to tragic typhoons. The most
felt, I can say, is Typhoon Glenda (Rammasun, its national name) that became a
massive destruction. Some of the aforementioned enhancements were destroyed
and swept by this. Classes were suspended for weeks and this is truly a hard time.
But what matters most is how we got back and faced the challenges together
stronger than before.
In our department, I can say that our personal state of calamity is when two
attempts in the Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) board exam
became unsuccessful. The third one became crucial and nerve-racking. Fortunately,
seven engineers of this field have been produced. This expanded the abilities and
capacities of LSPU graduates on making it for different board exams not just in
ECE, but also in other courses such as in the recent Criminology licensure
examination. An alumnus made it to the top 7, written in the name of Frederick
Icaro a magna cum laude of his batch.

This university is making its own name, without a doubt. During my five years
in college, I underwent through some ups and downs. By being a student journalist,
I embrace the unprecedented changes that the school holds. The university stories
became the most-watched and topmost trending topics for me. I became a follower,
a critic and a listener. With all those controversies, news and issues that I
encountered inside, I can tell now that its worth it. This, I realized, when I started
on dealing with the positives.
Being a campus journalist is being this. Remembering all those noteworthy
experiences, a collection of facts can be written. This is a privilege given to an
exceptional one. This turns an ordinary student to an extraordinary one. To be
honest, I still hope that I did not waste the pages that were sent to me. It is our task
to be the students voice. The public trust is our friend. Given this awesome chance,
a publication member should know what is right to write. It is to let the readers
know the answers to their questions. It is also a bridge to be more observant and
appreciate what the school offers to us.
Somehow, I hope that someone will fill in the space Ill leave in this paper. I
hope that this someone will embrace the truth around him or her. I wish that
somebody will dare to read and write between the lines. I wish that this somebody
will learn a lesson from all the facts that he or she will cover. I aspire that someday,
another campus journalist will walk out the university but, his or her heart stays in
the student publication. Maybe, just maybe, that person is you. ***
