Search Warrant

SUBJECT:
‘Affidavit in support of a search warrant for the entire premises located at 3201 Woodland Drive,
Northwest, Washington, DC 20008. This location is described as a brick exterior, multi-level,
single family house. The doorway to the home is white, with a black front door. The numbers 3-
2-0-1 are displayed above the front door in gold lettering. There is a stone walkway that leads
from the sidewalk to the front door.
‘THE AFFIANT:
Your affiant, Detective Damion Johnson, is assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department
Criminal Investigations Division; Homicide Branch.
INVESTIGATION:
On Thursday, May 14, 2015, a call was dispatched to this location for a local. Multiple units
from DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and observed the top level of the house engulfed
in flames, DC Fire and EMS forced entry and extinguished the fire.
Located in a bedroom on the upper level, was what appeared to be an adult male with apparent
trauma to the rear of his head. Also in that same bedroom, was what appeared to be an adult
female with lacerations to her throat and head.

|‘An unknown individual, who was receiving CPR, was transported to a local hospital. A baseball
bat with what appeared to be blood on it was located in this bedroom.
Located in a second bedroom on the upstairs level, was an adult individual (gender unknown)
suffering from severe fire damage to it's body. There was fire damage to the room. The fire
appeared to have been ignited in this room,
Detectives secured this location pending issuance of a District of Columbia Superior Court
Search Warrant,
REQUEST:
Based on the aforementioned facts and circumstances, your affiant believes that secreted in this
location, 3201 Woodland Drive, Northwest, Washington, DC 20008, is evidence pertaining to
the ignition of the fire and death of the decedents. Your affiant respectfully requests that a
District of Columbia Superior Court Search Warrant be issued for the entire premises of 3201
Woodland Drive, Northwest, Washington, DC 20008. Specifically, your affiant requests that the
District of Columbia Superior Court Search Warrant be issued to determine the origin and cause
of the fire and collect evidence related to arson as well as any evidence related to the death of the
decedents. Additionally, your affiant requests that the search warrant include any physical
evidence, to include photographs, diagrams, clothing, hairs, fibers, DNA and other forms of
forensic evidence, as well as any item which may contain these types of forensic evidence.

Metropolitan Police Department, and is being held unoccupied pending the issuance of the
search warrant

MOTION TO SEAL AFFIDAVIT IN SUPPORT OF
SEARCH W, AND MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT F
The United States of America, by and through its attorney, the United States
Attomey for the District of Columbia, respectfully moves the Court for an order directing
that the affidavit in support of the Search Warrant for 3201 Woodland Drive, Northwest,
Washington, D.C., be placed under seal until further order of the Court, In support of its
motion, the government states as follows:
‘The affidavit in support of the search warrant is based in part upon specific
information which provides details of the crime, the crime scene, names and information
about potential suspects, and references to incidents, which have not been made public as
ofthis time, These details provide essential corroborative information which may be used
to confirm descriptions by witnesses of the offense, and early disclosure of such
information may jeopardize further investigation of this matter.
‘The affidavit also contains descriptions of information that witnesses have provided
to the police. Public disclosure of this information would create a clear probability that
the identity of these witnesses would be revealed, Therefore, the confidentiality of the
information and the safety of witnesses and confidential sources would be compromised bythe release of the information contained in the affidavit.
WHEREFORE, for all the foregoing reasons, the government respectfully requests
that its motion be granted,
