The Golden
Leprechaun Princess

by Yupud Regor

2
Once upon a time...

3
...when the world was fair
and young like a delicate flower.

4
...and the world
was separated into
light and dark
like day and night.

5
There was a
young
farmgirl
named
Jenna.

6
Of course she lived on a
farm with her two brothers
and big sister.

7
They had wonderful
adventures together,
but this story
is Jenna’s story.

8
Now Jenna was a good
farmgirl.

9
She always did her chores.

10
“What were they,” you ask?.

11
Why don’t you try and guess:
a. cleaning out the stinky pig pen.

b. running around and irritating her brothers and big

sister.

c. putting away the dishes.

d. singing songs.

e. helping momma with the gardening.

12
Why don’t you try and guess:
a. cleaning out the stinky pig pen.

b. running around and irritating her brothers and big

sister.

c. putting away the dishes.

d. singing songs.

e. helping momma with the gardening.

13
Actually, she did all those things
but helping her momma in the
garden was her favorite chore.
Every day after dinner, Jenna
would go out and help her
momma in the garden.
14
Sometimes...Jenna would have
so much fun helping her
momma in the garden she
wouldn’t notice that the sun had
gone down.

15
And it would get very dark...

16
...very very very dark

17
...and Jenna...
...would hear strange noises...

18
“Hooooot!!!”

“Chirp!!!”

“Meoooow!!!”

19
“Momma?”, Jenna whispered.
“Yes?” said momma.
“I..I’m a little scared,”
whimpered Jenna.

20
“Oh don’t be, oh don’t be!”
“But I am.”
“I am here with you and
besides, the Golden
Leprechaun Princess will soon
make everything bright again!”

21
“Bright?!” asked Jenna.
“But HOW?”
“and...the...the Golden
Leprechaun Princess?” she
stuttered.

22
“Who...who’s
she?”
23
“What?!” momma cried out,
“I have never told you the
story of the Golden
Leprechaun Princess?!”

24
“Uhh...nope.” said Jenna flatly.

“Ok, come sit on my lap to

stay warm, and I will tell you
the story,” said momma
quietly.
25
A very long time
ago, when the
world was more
magical, the
Golden
Leprechaun
Princess walked
the beautiful
land.

26
During the quiet
time before
morning, she
would wake up.

27
While it was still
dark the Golden
Leprechaun
Princess would
walk around the
land and collect
golden strands
from the sun-
flowers.

28
You see, the
sun-flowers
manufacture the
golden strands
that made the
sun bright.

29
Then, right when
the dark sun
would get up, the
Golden
Leprechaun
Princess would
throw the strands
up towards the
dark sun and the
dark sun would
light up!

30
She did this
every day.

31
Every time
before morning,
she would wake
up before
sunrise and
collect gold
strands from the
sun-flowers.

32
And again she
would be sure to
collect just
enough of the
golden strands
to throw it into
the air to light up
the darkened
sun.

33
And so that’s
why we have the
bright bright sun
every morning.

34
Most of the time,
she was very
careful not to
harvest too many
gold strands or
'sun-strands' (as it
really is called).

35
...so that the sun
would be just bright
enough for the
trees and birds and
people to enjoy the
daytime.

36
...but not not too
many sun-strands
which would
make the sun so
hot that
everything in the
world would burn
in a hot glow.

37
So, if she
collected too
many strands,
she would need
to keep them
safe, so she
would hide them
next to trees...

38
...and in deep
deep wells...

39
...and at the
roots of rainbows
after a light
spring rain.

40
Now the Golden
Leprechaun
Princess is very
kind...
...but she can be
a little forgetful.
Sometimes she
would forget
where she hid the
extra sun-strands.

41
And these sun
strands would get
cold. They would
curl up into little balls
and harden. (Many
people today can
recognize what cold,
hard sun-strands
were. They are what
we call ‘gold.’)

42
The Green
Leprechauns (who
are ‘boys’, of
course) loved gold.
They tried
everyday to find the
cold, hard sun-
strands that had
turned into golden
nuggets. They
loved to put them in
their little pots.

43
They loved to
sneak around
(which they were
particularly good
at) and would try
to find out where
The Golden
Leprechaun
Princess hid the
extra sun-strands.

44
They looked at
the roots of trees
and plants...

45
They looked in
deep deep
wells...

46
They chased
rainbows after a
light rain to see if
there were cold,
hard sun-strands
that turned into
little golden
nuggets were
there.

47
So this little
game of hiding
and finding the
sun-strands went
on for as long as
we can
remember.

48
and every thing
was fine...until
ONE DAY...

49
...until one cold
dark morning...

50
The Golden
Leprechaun
Princess woke up
singing one of her
favorite songs
which made her
especially
forgetful.

51
So when it was
time to throw the
sun-strands into
the air...

52
there...weren’t...
enough!

53
What is she
going to do?

54
What are
Jenna and
her friends
going to do?

55
What are you
going to do?

56
To be continued...
