Virchows Triad:
Venous Stasis
Vessel Wall Injury
Altered Blood
Coagulation
Inflammation of
vessel wall
(thromboplebitis)
s/sx: leg pain and
swelling irritation,
hard to touch,
Thrombus
formation
Attached to the vein
wall and contains a
tail made up of
WBC, RBC and fibrin
Clots can
breakthrough
to the blood
stream
