Experience
For the last three years I have been working for the Halifax retail
network. This has given me the chance to grow my communication
skills, both verbal and written. It has made my working life easier in
terms of time and clarity. Being able to translate and condense
large amounts of information and pass that on to the client in a form
they can digest and understand is essential.

Administration in the shape of reports and regulatory forms make

up much of my workload and using the same principles as with
verbal communication, I am required to track and minute
interviews, as well as document regulated sales. A consistent
approach to all written material is essential. At the end of the day
my decisions and advice will be judged on the reports and written
material I have produced. Targets are important, but all have to be
produced and finalized within a given timeline and with a required
level of quality and accuracy, making organization and self-
management key in all areas.

Over the last three years I have developed a wide working

knowledge of the financial industry, while advising on FSA regulated
products including insurances and loans, I have had to go well
beyond the limits of my area to resolve questions and issues raised
by my clients on a daily basis. Examples of this would be stocks,
government allowances and mortgage processes. As with many
regulated businesses complaints do arise around certain products.
Knowing the workings of other regulated areas brings these cases to
a resolution faster and therefore streamlining my time and work
load.

One of the main things that have seen me through many difficult
scenarios is my attitude. Not simply a ‘can do attitude’ but being
positive even when moral is low.
It’s the knack of managing the situation and rally the people around
you.
Programs
My program use centre’s on Microsoft Office, including, Word, Excel
and Power point. I have a high working knowledge of all these
programs and will typically use Word and Excel on a daily basis for
reports and business returns.
