Dr.

Hayes Wicker, Senior Pastor

Ways to Show the Heavenly Father
to Your Children
Most of us men are familiar with magazines which target
our interests: guns, golf, fishing, automotive repair, etc.
You will often see articles about the Six Ways to or
the Three Steps to a More Effective and so forth. By
our very nature, men love to be able to fix something and
achieve goals. We love steps of action and checklists. I
share with you on this Fathers Day weekend how we may
show the Heavenly Father to our kids.
1. Model Christ-like behavior in your reactions to disappointments and criticism.
2. Read stories at bedtime that tell about Gods power and love.
3. When a frightening situation occurs, remind them that they are in Gods
hands.
4. Pray out loud with them about their concerns.
5. When they wake up in the morning, greet them with the cheerful reminder:
This is another great day that God has given for us to shine for Him. Lets see
how God works today!
6. Allow the awareness of Gods presence to become second nature in your
everyday activities, such as praying at meal time, pointing out the wonders of
Gods creation, and giving thanks for people who bless you.
7. Insist that your children go to worship and Bible & Life Groups at our church
as long as they are under your roof. Do so with a positive spirit. Remind them
why this is important as part of being in the human family and the Family of God.
8. Memorize scripture with your children; let them see how you learn Gods
Word.
9. Treat people, especially strangers, with kindness.
10. Pray for your kids to come to Christ as Lord and Savior and trust the Holy
Spirit to draw them in His way and time.
I shared this past weekend about Kevin VanDusers resignation as Pastor of
Sports Outreach. We are grateful for his 14 years with us, ministering initially to
middle schoolers and then in sports ministry. Pray for direction and blessing as
he seeks the Lord in expanding athletic ministry on a wider scale.
*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
Sunday morning worship services. Pastor would love to meet you!

Practical Insight into the Churchs Earthly Mission

For Christians today, faith in God can sometimes seem to be
