Consultant for Banking and Microfinance


Background:
Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (SBFIC) is a German NGO. The SBFIC Regional
Office East Africa operates in Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Two project components are being
carried out in Tanzania, together with SBFICs partner organizations, the Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB)
and the Tanzania Association of Microfinance Institutions (TAMFI):

For these two project components SBFIC is looking for a Consultant for Banking and Microfinance.
The main objectives in these components are to support the establishment of the TPB Academy, to
train and coach the management and staff of TAMFI member institutions, and to support the
continuous improvement process of TPBs customer care and branch management.
Strengthening of the financial sector is one of the key factors for the wellbeing of people. To
strengthen the sector the banks and microfinance institutions have to increase their service quality
toward their clients, and to improve their performance and sustainability. To support the institutions
on their way forward will be one of your main tasks. Furthermore you will assist the SBFIC Country
Director Tanzania in various issues.
The job holder will become member of a highly motivated team. She/he will be working on exciting
tasks in an international context and will join the SBFIC/TPB/TAMFI team in the venture to enhance
the performance of the banking and microfinance sector in Tanzania.

Job responsibilities:
1. Support Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) with the optimization of their branches on basis of the
findings of mystery shopping, customer surveys, and other surveys
2. Coaching and training of managers and employees
3. Consultancy for TAMFI alongside with the expansion of their service range. This includes
strengthening the already existing network with TPB
4. Office Management

Minimum qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in finance or a related subject
2. At least 5 years working experience in banks/financial institutions, particularly in customer
service and sales
3. Additional experience in the microfinance business is an advantage
4. Fluent in English and Swahili
5. Excellent MS Office Suite mastery
6. Driving license
