BISCUITS SNAP SHUCKERS FIVE-GAME WIN STREAK THURSDAY:
Biloxis third 5-game win streak of 2015 came to an end on Thursday,
11-5 to the Montgomery Biscuits at MGM Park.
The two clubs exchanged 4 runs in the first inning and a single run
in the second inning. Montgomery plated 3 runs in the fourth and seventh including 3 home runs and coasted to the win.
Starter Hobbs Johnson (4-4, 3.61) suffered the loss and allowed
7 R, 5 ER on 4 H over 3.1 IP. The bullpen of Trevor Seidenberger,
Manny Barreda and Martin Viramontes combined to allow 4 R, 3
HR over the final 5.2 IP.
Taylor Green (2x3) continued to stay hot at the plate with a 3-run
first 2 games of the series.
2B in the first and has posted 6 RBI in the
Nathan Orf blasted his first HR of the season in the second inning
and was 2-for-4 with 2 R. Orlando Arcia added his 23rd multi-hit
game going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
SHUCKERS WITH 2ND-MOST ALL-STARS SINCE 1999 IN SL: Starting pitcher Brooks Hall was added to the South Division roster Wednesday, giving the Shuckers 11 All-Star selections and 80% of the starting
rotation which leads the league. Only the 2011 Tennessee Smokies had
more selections (12) since Division vs. Division formatting began in the
Southern League. SS Orlando Arcia, 1B Nick Ramirez, OF Michael
Reed, OF Kyle Wren (promoted), RHP Jaye Chapman (promoted),
RHP Damien Magnifico, LHP Hobbs Johnson and RHP Tyler Wagner
were selected. Last Thursday C Adam Weisenburger and RHP Jorge
Lopez were added to the roster. The game will be played on Tuesday,
June 23rd at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, AL.
FIRST HALF CHAMPS: The Shuckers clinched the SL South title on Sunday with a 9-0 win at Mississippi. They clinched with 6 games remaining in
the half, joining only the Texas Leagues Corpus Christi Hooks (HOU) as the
first teams to secure a first half title. The Shuckers will host game 1 and 2 of
the South Division Series at MGM Park, September 10-11.
BRING ON THE BISCUITS: The Tampa Bay Rays Double-A affiliate Montgomery Biscuits make their first ever visit to MGM Park. The
2004 season was the teams first in Montgomery. The Biscuits play
in Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, which has a capacity of 7,000.
HALL, TAYLOR SWEEP WEEKLY LEAGUE HONORS: RHP
Brooks Hall and OF Tyrone Taylor were named Pitcher of the Week
and Player of the Week respectively for their play June 8-14. Hall
went 2-0 with an 0.50 ERA in 2 starts and 14 IP while Taylor batted
.423 with 11 H, 8 R, 4 2B, 2 HR, 21 TB, 8 RBI and 2 SB in the week.

THE GREEN TEAM: Taylor Green has 6 RBI over the first 2 games of the
current series and a 3-game hit streak. The Comox, BC Canada native is
batting .454 (5x11) with a HR, 2B 7 RBI and upped AVG from .226 to .241.
FELLY AT THE TOP: Josh Fellhauer has hit in 4 straight games and 3 of
those in the leadoff spot. Over those 3 games, Felly is batting .400 (4x10)
with 2 2B, 2 R, 4 BB and a .571 OBP.
NOW THAT IS QUALITY: Biloxi starters have posted 12 quality starts
over their last 16 starts dating back to 6/2 at Birmingham, but had a string
of 5 straight snapped last night. Since June 2, they have given up just 21
earned runs over 93.1 IP, a 2.03 ERA with 84 strikeouts and 33 walks.
Overall the rotation has a 3.03 ERA this season and 25 quality starts.

BILOXI BASEBALL HISTORY: Pro baseball is not totally new to the Gulf Coast, but it is the first since 1908. The
Gulfport-Biloxi Sand Crabs of the Cotton States League played half a season in Biloxi during the summer of 1908.
Many Major League and som Minor League teams held spring traing in the area. Even the 1920 Milwaukee Brewers
of the American Association (direct descendant of the current Brewers) trained in Gulfport. See below.

COACHING STAFF
Subero, 42, begins his second season in the Brewers organization as manager at the Double-A level. Subero led the Huntsville Managing Career
Team
Stars to a 77-63 record and a postseason berth last season.
GCL Rangers
Prior to joining the Brewers, Subero managed five seasons in
the Dodgers organization at Class-A Inland Empire (2009), Double-A Chattanooga (2010-12) and Class-A Rancho Cucamonga
(2013). He led the Lookouts to the playoffs in 2011 after clinching
the Southern Leagues second-half North Division title with a 4227 record after the All-Star break.
During his only season as a manager in the White Sox organization, Subero led Double-A
Birmingham to a 74-63 record and a Southern League playoff berth in 2008.
Subero began his coaching career in the Rangers organization, including two seasons as
hitting coach with the Rookie Gulf Coast League Rangers (1999-2000) and seven seasons
as manager with the GCL Rangers (2001-02), Class-A Clinton (2003-05) and Class-A Bakersfield (2006-07). His clubs reached the postseason in each of his three seasons with Clinton. Subero owns a 798-849 (.485) record over 13 seasons as a
minor-league manager.
