I.

Purpose of the Program

II.

At Scripps Health, this program is primarily intended as a local reporting

system for employees within the organization to submit their ideas.
The ideas can be categorized into 3 major categories viz. Cost Improvement,
Process Improvement and Innovation.
This program will be interested in gathering ideas from all employees of the
organization that will help Scripps and its departments making Scripps a
more productive and satisfying workplace.

Goals of the Program (Vision)

1. Unlock the potential greatness of your ideas and together we can create
innovative and meaningful solutions.
2. Collectively provide innovative ideas through crowd sourcing that might lead
to disruptive innovation at Scripps.

III.

Categories of Ideas
It is very important to distinguish the improvement ideas submission from Innovations. One
way to clearly distinguish is through the Qualifier section described in Section V
Cost Improvement

in a new Cost Improvement plan for a department, location or a
hospital.

Process
Improvement

in a new Performance Improvement plan for a department, location
or a hospital.

Innovation

the need, rationale, and building the idea around a cost or

reduced costs, improved patient satisfaction, new revenue generating

opportunities, improved process flows, reductions in absenteeism, reductions
in labor costs, etc.
2. Increased staff morale & reduced staff turnover decades of
organizational research shows that when employees feel under-utilized and
under-appreciated, they give less discretionary effort to their current
employer and eventually take their talents & knowledge elsewhere.
3. Earlier Signs Based on the ideas and suggestions from the employees, the
management at Scripps will have a visibility to great opportunities or serious
problems. It creates a culture among the employees where they can speak up
their ideas and this program will provide a platform to capture the
ideas/initiatives.
